2013 320ed starting issue
Hi new to forum and to a BMW ! I bought a 63 plate 320ed tourer auto for a good price 97k on clock full service history ( mixed BM and specialist), Only had for a few weeks- couple of days ago got in pressed starter button and aside from a deep click sound more of a "dock" -relay engaging? nothing and message on screen starter/ignition fault car won't start ! a few presses later starts perfectly no lack of power from battery , this happens 3 times out of 5 . I took it to my local mechanic - I drive system says no faults on check.
Took it too my local mechanic and he put it on his snap on diagnostic machine -only message was "pressure in DPF" - car is due to go in for an EGR recall this week, and mechanic thought that EGR issue may effect DPF causing the fault code? and possibly may be fooling the car into not strting as it thinks there may be a fire risk -No lights on dash and runs/drives like a dream ....any ideas ? |

Most likely your starter solenoid is not firing. Replace your starter.
For what it's worth, most countries don't use the plate/year thing; so what month/year is your model? |

320ed 2013 starting issue
it's an October 2013 Model efficient dynamics twin turbo power 161bhp. Another strange thing happened, when my mechanic plugged it into the scanner and erased some old codes -the I drive service history vanished ! all independent/specialist data gone and only genuine BMW data remains ?.As I say i've only had it for a couple of weeks and I scrolled through all the i drive info on my 2 hr test drive and it was efinitely all there?.

There is a software someone developed that can allow a DIY person to enter all service records into BMW service record screen. My model does not have that option anymore, I think pre-LCI had that as default. But many people noted that if that service is not in the BMW database, it will be erased when BMW connects your car to their computers. It basically erases all non-dealer data and updates with dealer only data. But that is a normal occurrence, not related to your original issue.
