3AG reverse cam coding problem

I have a G30 520i (2019) and have fitted the genuine retrofit kit

The loom is 66212450878 and the camera is 66555A1BC30 which is an updated part according to the parts guy at the dealer

I have physically installed it, I have used Esys 3.27 to VO code 3AG and coded every module except the engine ECU and a couple of modules that have no coding option

The camera works when the car is put into reverse however there are no guidelines. I can see the option on the idrive for guidelines and it is selected but it makes no difference

As the camera only has a few connections (power, ground and ethernet) and I get an image I'm making the assumption that this must be a coding issue

I am on the original i-step according to esys (S15A-19-03-525) and I've owned the car from nearly new so assume its never been updated

I am using v.4.31.31_PSdZData_Lite from shawnsheridan

When I connect with esys there are two connections for S15A, S15A_21_03_582_V_004_000_001 and S15A_21_07_550_V_004_000_001, I've used the second one (ie later) to do the coding, not sure what impact if any this has.

As said previously I coded all available modules except engine ECU DME_BAC2 which I didn't think would affect the camera, I can see the following modules which all code without error : ACSM5, ATM, BDC_BODY2, DKOMBI2, DSC3, EGS7, EPS2, FLM(43), FLM(44), FZD2, HU-NBT2, ICAM4, IHKA4, KAFAS4, USS and ZBE4. Modules GWS2 and BDC_GWAY have 'coding' greyed out when right clicked on so assume these can't be coded

When coding, whilst esys reported no errors I did get some errors come up on the idrive, drivetrain malfunction I think, but understand that fault codes can come up when coding and this is not unexpected.

Therefore I ran ISTA/D and could see some modules with errors. However when clearing the codes I noticed I could not see a ICAM4 module but could see a TRVCS which was coming up as having faults but these cannot be cleared

This seems strange to me as I thought older cars have a TRVCS but newer cars have ICAM4 but not both - is this correct ? Maybe it just means my ISTA/D is wrong ? Or maybe this is not relevant

So has anyone found a solution to this ?

I'm assuming it has to be a coding or software issue but not sure what to do from here - any help appreciated

Thanks for reading

I've had a further look and strangely the coloured squares that light up on the reverse cam display to indicate a hazard seem to work
So it's just the guidelines

On someone's suggestion I used ISTA/D to check / initialise ethernet but this reported no problem.

I can still see the TRVCS module in ISTA/D but not the ICAM4. eSys sees the ICAM4, and no TRVCS. ISTA/D says the module is not coded or something similar.

I connected up esys again and tried to code ICAM4 and it failed (sure it was ok yesterday but might be wrong)

Under the SVT tree the CAFD is CAFD_FFFFFFFF_255_255_255 which doesn't look right, when I code I get the following error :

So it seems it's a coding issue, I'm struggling to understand what this would mean.

Any ideas welcome !

@shawnsheridan Could this be a psdzdata issue ? I have the latest from you I think

File for "cafd_ffffffff-255_255_255 means CAFD is corrupt. Need to inject CAFD into NBT2 and VO Code ecu. PM sent.

Thanks Shawn

Just to be clear, do I inject CAFD to NBT2 even though it's the ICAM module i have problems with ?

Then code ICAM4 and NBT2 or is the CAFD injection sufficient ?

I'm installing eSys 3.30 from your link and will use that

Id be grateful if you could confirm

Many thanks, Paul

Whichever ECU shows corrupt CAFD, CAFD_FFFFFFFF_255_255_255.

Shawn

I've installed esys 3.30 from your link and run this without the launcher

I injected the latest CAFD into the ICAM4 module and all seems to be OK now

I just used the latest CAFD, there was a long list, I'm assuming using the latest one is OK ?

Anyway, THANK YOU for your continued help to me and the community - you are a legend.

Whilst this revcam installation has been a challenge I have now learnt so much along the way and I have a far better understanding of VO and FDL coding - due in large part to your freely given help and guidance

Thank you again.

Yes, use latest (bottom) CAFD.
