FYI - I did this on Bimmercode Expert Mode as I did not have esys.

This was on a US G30

All changes are in the BDC_Body2 Module, in the 5FA9 Cafd file
NSL_Verbaut: Changed this to "Verbaut"

LCE_BEL_LIN_VAR: Change to match your existing switch, plus "NSL". For example, mine was "39_BEL_PL_FLC_NSW_NIVI", so I changed it to "40_BEL_PL_FLC_NSW_NSL_NIVI". This keeps the incorrect light switch variant error from showing up in ISTA.
Mine was set to "28 BEL_PL_FLC_NSW" so I set it to "34_BEL_PL_FLC_NSW_NSL"

LIC_LOG_LAMP_2_OUTPUT_CHANNEL_DATA: Change this to "G30_ECE_Code"
No G30_ECE_Code was found but car was set to G32_US_Code so switched it to "G32_ECE_Code"

LIC_LOG_LAMP_2_OUTPUT_CHANNEL_INDEX: Changed this to "G30_ECE_Code"

LIC_NIVEAU_OVERRIDE_DATA_0: Change this to "UNK_PARAM_1"
No "UNK_PARAM_1" was found and car was set to "G30_US_code2" so set it to "G32_ECE_code2"

LIC_NIVEAU_OVERRIDE_INDEX: Change this to "UNK_PARAM_3"
No "UNK_PARAM_3" found and car was set to "G30_US_code2". No "G30_ESE_Code2" found so set to "G32_ECE_code2".

LIC_VERSION_DATA: Changed this to "UNK_PARAM_5"

Happy to say I hit the Fog Light jackpot (Both lights are there along with wiring). I had the LEDs but no way without taking out trunk liner to tell if the wiring was on 1 or 2 of the lights or not there at all. I figured it would be easier to code first and see if it works and it did. I now have rear fog lights and no error codes!

Thank god it worked!!! I kept on hitting roadblocks and boom someone figured out exactly how to code for a US G30 bc I too didn’t have all of the LIC coding as previous mentioned but luckily my 2018 G30 had the diodes and wiring so all I did was buy a Euro switch and coded with BimmerCode and wha-la we’ve got rear fogs!! Many thanks to all of the pioneers helping everyone else out with coding their cars with ease, I salute you!

I honestly just stuck a plastic trim puller between the top of the switch and bottom of the top part of the dash and pulled it straight out. Unplugged the old switch, plugged in the new one, and popped the new one in. Takes about 5 minutes.

It’s kind of hard to tell in the picture. Could you take the same picture, but a little closer and from an angle looking more down? You’ll be able to see a row of LED diodes if they are in there.

Someone to explain hot to do that because I have car for fog lights coding.

As you probably know I did the Euro LCI upgrade so I know I now have the diodes and rear fog capability. They question is do I have the wires, but I believe I do.

Question, is the coding with Bimmercode in simple mode?

Joe, for coding I used BimmerCode Expert Mode. This was my first experience coding using expert mode and everything worked out perfectly. The directions above are spot on.

Thank you. I just ordered the switch from Latvia so it will take a bit. I was going to use Vic to turn them on, but I guess at some point I should take off my girly pants and go into expert mode.

Also I thought all the coding in this thread was with esys, I'll have to look back a bit closer for the Bimmercode instructions.

Post #18 by Supacat outlines the Bimmercode procedure. The choices available to me were a little different, but I got it on the first try. Remember, Bimmercode will save your previous settings so you can always go back if something wasn't coded right.

Thanks I'll take a look. But since I've had my tails coded in that module I don't want to screw anything up. So I think I'll leave it up to the coder who did the tails.

My tracking says "Item sent abroad" on 10/25 from Latvia with an airplane icon next to it. I would have to assume it is in the states by now, but no updates to this entry.

Only 1 side lights up or do you need to run a wire to the other side?

He has both wires in pin location 1 inner. Needs to be coded still. This is how it works when coded for Euro tails but not coded for the switch. My car is going in for an oil change today. The same shop that installed my tails is going to check if I have the fog wire. Fingers crossed. I ordered the switch from Latvia and who knows when it will arrive. If I do have the wires, I will pop it in and have Vic code it. If I don't, I will have a switch for sale that is for a G30 without front fogs (M550) and without night vision. It's not worth running two new wires from the BDC, but you never know, the shop today might give me a reasonable quote. The irony here is, I know how to do ALL this stuff myself, but it is easier and more time efficient to have my shop do it. They charged me only $300 to install the tails and run new 5th wires from the BDC.

Yep, what Joe said. I just have to get it coded now. I was going to get it coded last night but my kiddo is sick, so that took the front seat. I might try my hand at Bimmercode depending on Vic's schedule

My lucky day. I've got the rear fog wires! All six pins full. Pin 1 is the fogs. Black yellow, Black white.
