So this Friday my 530e will be remapped I'm out of warranty and want to see just what this engine can be tuned to. Report seem to indicate it's a great transformation.

Hope to go from 248 BHP and 420 NM to 340 BHP 550 NM.

Will update this thread regards the before and after changes and what it feels like to drive.

Being completed by BMWorkshop.ie a very reputable independent shop here in Ireland.

Cost 265 Euro special offer.

Just drove 120km after the remap and wow what a change.

The car is accelerating so much faster in normal driving, I'm assuming top end it will fade away but with the e boost the car could give a Tesla a run off a standing start now.

Very happy for 265 Euro only on special deal.

In fact the kick in sport mode and sport transmission is almost too much think there is no need to go to sport any longer.

No I don't use draggy as have no interest in straight line speed. It all about handling in my world.

That said the extra speed is very handy on the highway!!

Do you not find that the handling is compromised anyway by the weight of the battery?

Chuck yes definitely compared to my old E92 this G30 can't touch it for handling but I'm older now so not into throwing it around (usually)😂

I find it somewhat compromised but the fact that the battery pack is down low helps.

Just to add…

I went for a few performance runs today along the motorway and honestly this remap makes the car a total monster.

The key is the e boost as it kicks in at launch and gives instant torque and acceleration then as the engine spools up there is literally no torque flat spot or reduction in acceleration right up to 220km.

Only thing stopping me going faster is that the Variable dampers are 10mm higher than M sport shocks and the car starts to feel a little floaty to me even in sport mode so I backed off. For anyone on M Sport this probably wouldn't be and issue.

Adding some sport springs and lowering down 15mm would be the only additional change that could improve things further but I'm reluctant to do that as it's physically obvious to anyone who looks at the car in the case of an accident and insurance may be voided. Also I hear rumours the VDC shocks can fail prematurely if lowering springs are fitted.(could be BS would like to know)

I would advise anyone with a 530e and who likes speed and torque to do this remap.

Simply unreal performance from a car that can return 90mpg around town and for me to date 47mpg on long motorway runs!! What's not to like.

Sounds like you are having fun with the new found torque increase.

As for the different springs, any damper that you fit lowering springs to, has the chance of failing prematurely, it's part of the risk. I've never had an issue on any cars over the years with lowering springs. I'll be fitting h&r to my 540 soon to get it sitting less like an X5

If you are worried about the insurance company finding out about your lowering springs, I think the would be more interested in the power increase changes 😂

I guess on insurance my view is springs are visually obvious a remap isn't!!

If I crash I will just hit the ECU with a hammer and say it must have happened in the crash🤣

How is this affecting your MPG's and electric range? I mean that's the reason I bought the car, but interested in some fun in it as well

Electrical range isn't affected at all.

If I drive hard fuel consumption is very high but in normal every day driving no difference at all.

Wow.

Anyone know of any US based tuner doing this?

Is it just an ECU flash?

Look up mg flasher. I'm using it on my 530e. I can flash back to stock and stage 1 or 2 as many times as I want

So is the 530e engine just a B48 with an additional electric motor? The reason my I ask is that tune just has versions for the b48 and b58.

If so I'd probably just go with a bootmod3 tune on the "b48". I assumed that it required a specific tune that tuned not only the gas engine but tweaked the electric motor somehow too

My 2018 530e is a B46 but that shouldn't make a difference.
