If you're outside of the manufacturer warranty, Carbahn only covers Carbahn parts - which if this is just a software tune, doesn't seem like it's covering much of anything. If it's a pigtail/other hardware, then it would just cover the items installed. So, if something breaks outside of your car's normal warranty, then you're out of pocket for the repairs, whether or not it's related to the tune.

The snap/crackle is an option during the tune. I asked them not to enable, as I don't like that sound. |

FWIW, I also have a the full Dinan exhaust, but I have not taken the car to be dyno'ed nor do I have draggy. All I know is the car is insanely fast now. Measurably butt-dyno faster than my F10 M5 and I can't imagine not being able to take/hang with a stock non-competition M5 now.

I bought my car CPO for a nearby dealer but not MY local dealer, where I service my cars. I wanted to buy local but I was shopping used any my local dealer didn't even have an M550 when I was buying. My local dealer IS a Hendrick dealer. I have not used my warranty yet.. I wonder if I could get it refunded, then use the money to buy the Hendrick warranty instead… I suspect they are similar in terms of what is covered. My last BMW, which we did buy at the local hendrick dealer, we bought the Hendrick extended warranty and it was great - we had several items fail that were all addressed by that warranty with zero hassles… so I fully have faith it is a legitimate warranty. If a Hendrick extended warranty would cover a tune - wow - awesome! I'd be on that in a second.

And the full Dinan Exhaust only adds 7hp, so that's a non-factor.

The 698 HP / 702 Torque numbers are for the 2020's with engine code N63B44T3. The 2018/19's with engine code N63B44O2 are approximately 50 HP/Torque lower according to Chris. It is deceiving on their website because they list the engine as "N63B" only without the extra identifiers. Chris also did confirm that any Extended Warranty will cover the entire Powertrain if you buy their Carbahn warranty through them. I might be doing this in Spring !! Me neither. I spent a lot of time and effort to get the decel burble OUT of another vehicle (Harley) when I was tuning it. When I hear that on a street car I tend to think, "Well, that twit doesn't know how to tune an engine..."

for the warranty. Let's get together soon Mark and I will let you drive my car with my tune, I would also like to drive yours. I am curious how my V2 compares to your stock 523HP. I am supposed to be in the mid to upper 500's, but would love to see how your car feels and also have you weigh in on how my car feels to you. Hopefully we will get a nice day soon. I haven't driven mine in 6 weeks!

I'm going to contact my SA on purchasing extended Warranty info and Carbahn before I do anything. I'm still under factory warranty through 2023. Last edited by HerkHealer; 01-06-2022 at 09:15 AM.. |

So let's say you are within your initial warranty and something brakes down. If BMW states that the tune was the reason why it broke down, they go to Carbahn and ask them to cover the repair charges. Now, if you are out of the initial warranty, Carbahn does not even warranty anything. Even if you have a CPO BMW, they won't cover anything beyond the original warranty of 4/48. It would be strange that BMW would be willing to cover a tune that the manufacturer of the tune (Carbahn) does not even cover beyond the original warranty. The only time I could see that happening is if they were to lie to the 3rd party warranty company that a tune was not installed. |

From Chris' email to me last year - copy pasted: "We match the new car warranty only not the CPO. However many miles/moths you have remaining is what we match." How would Chris know if the extended warranty covers the powertrain? If I'm a warranty company and send someone to inspect the car and see a tune - there's no way that's something that gets covered. Even Chris' company does not warranty it past the initial warranty - why would an extended company? |

This is also why I told the guy above to get it in writing from the actual warranty company because Carbahn or BMW does NOT know how extensive a 3rd party warranty will look for tunes. If they see a tune, they will deny. Naturally BMW and/or Carbahn want to make a sale. "How are warranty matches the new car warrantee year for your mile from mile, so any malfunction that the dealer diagnoses as a failure from our software we would step in and pay the bill. We do not match extended warranty coverage, however extended warrantees are typically administered by third-party and the inspection process is not as focus on aftermarket parts as the new car warranty" |
