A little early for this kind of issue…no?

Brought my 540ixMsp in for a courtesy inspection prior to the end of my factory warranty. Found two issues: one small — a malfunction in the SOS system requiring a new battery. And one not small — an oil leak between the engine and front differential. Attached. Car has only 28,000 miles. I think this is a little early for this kind of failure? What’s your opinion?

So you've had this work performed?

Premature, yes but maybe it was a bad seal from the start. Maybe a good seal installed or seated improperly from the start.

Also probably not your problem but, seals like to stay bathed in oil and when cars sit, parts of the seal may be above the oil line and may dry out. This was popular with some Porsches that sat in garages for months on end.
