Wondering if anyone has had experience with the AFE Momentum intake for the 540 B58.
Or B58 in general. I've read elsewhere that it can trigger a CEL if running without a tune, especially in certain areas where the temps get colder. Just looking to get some input before pulling the trigger. Thanks!

no check engine light, it will improve the sound of the car, and add some power but don't expect a night and day difference

Wanting to follow this post. I just ordered a MST cold air intake. Getting rid of my Burger Tuning intake. I think the closed box intake would be less heat. Your thoughts?

There are no data ever posted on BMWs to support this claim.

BMS actually did a test comparing different intake setups years ago, and the conclusion was that, in most cases, the open intake was the best for power. in other cases, they are all the same.

The decision of open vs closed, in my opinion, has nothing to do with power or heat; it's mostly about how loud you like your intake to be.

Thanks....good to know. Guess it will be more about looks. The MST to me has a cleaner look. In any case I will be selling one of them in the near future.

Hey I know this thread is kinda old but I just bought a 540i and I was wondering if there is a front mount intake that I could use and if so which one is the best

im not aware of a front mount intake for your car, but a regular intake will get the job done

I would just go with one of our intakes its a semi sealed box design and you can run I with the top off if you like. For the price it can't be beat.

I was looking at those MAD intakes and I know it's compatible with the G30 540i but I don't if it'd be compatible with a G30 540i LCI. I just got mine a week ago and don't know much about the differences between pre-LCI and LCI
