Hi I'm trying to code rear fog lights on my 2017 G30 but in e-sys with Launcher 2.8.1 I have only UNK_PARAM_X in these functions:

LIC_LOG_LAMP_2_OUTPUT_CHANNEL_DATA: Change this to "G30_ECE_Code"
LIC_LOG_LAMP_2_OUTPUT_CHANNEL_INDEX: Change this to "G30_ECE_Code"

Could someone paste me raw value of G30_ECE_Code so I could match my UNK_PARAM_X values?

Thanks in advance

Hi! I was able to successfully code the rear fog lights to activate on my 2018 BMW 530e. But as soon as I Iocked/unlocked my car, I noticed that not all of my “Welcome Lights” are lighting up. Mainly, door handle lights and rear tailights no longer lit up when unlocked and I double-checked iDrive and saw that it was still activated after unlock.

I followed all the updated coding in this forum and I was just wondering if anyone was experiencing this and found a fix for it already? I reverted back to the US coding for the meantime as I really like the welcome lights after unlock.

Not this particular issue, but it seems coding the rear fogs is hit or miss and even when they work, there are other things that sometimes stop working when they are on.

For me, when activated, my inner tails don't illuminate when braking, just the outer. Maybe by design, but I suspect not. For me it wasn't worth researching or having my coder go back in because my Euro;s work perfectly and I honestly never have a need for rear fogs.

Sound like coding issues in your case. Vic is worth every penny.

I'm trying to code this on my 2018 now. Where are you getting these values to change the existing switch to?

Help with US spec 330e (G20?) in Portugal

I just brought my new BMW to Portugal (island of Madeira) and the only thing keeping me from passing inspection is the damned rear fog light.

No fog lights on the car.

There is one BMW dealership on the island and they think I need all new light assemblies. When I told them about this technique they looked puzzled. Not sure if the process works with a new 330e or not.

I have two buttons available but I'm inferring from this thread a new light switch panel is required (photo attached).

I have seen and heard it done where the driver's side backup light is converted into the rear fog light. I attached a photo of the driver's side with the parking lights and turn signals operating. I don't see a lot of unused lights to enable.

I just moved here and don't have any tools (downsizing). If anybody has any idea how to get this working without me having to spend thousands of dollars/euros (plus the VAT, ugh) on new light assemblies, I'd greatly appreciate it. Even just instructions I could give a mechanic (who has all the software and tools) would help.

Or, if I'm screwed, please let me know that as well.

Many thanks in advance!

The values were listed on the Bimmercode. I just picked the one that seemed to have all the accessories on the switch I used. It was probably the wrong value because when I do a scan for any errors it comes up as wrong switch installed, but it still works fine.

If your current lights don't have the LED diodes installed, then you would need new assemblies that have the LEDs installed.

If your current lights do have the rear fog LEDs installed, it's just a matter of coding and obtaining the switch to turn them on.

Thank you! It doesn't look there are any "extra" diodes from observation (see photos).

I'll keep trying. Maybe they are hidden in there somewhere. If not, I'll have to buy new lights. I have already resigned myself to buying a new dashboard switch.

I can't tell if I have the diodes. Sounds simple but I'm looking right at it expecting to see something and feeling stupid.

Do I have the diodes? 2019 540 but German delivery of a future US spec car so who knows what I have in there.

It looks really zoomed in, but as far as I can tell, it doesn't look like it.

Bummer, I guess I should just get the normal switch since I'm having the lights flickering issue. Not worth it to add wiring and new lights for me, but would have gotten the new switch while I need one anyway. Thanks.

You probably have the wiring, you just don't have the functionality on the tail lights.

Still not worth it for me personally, worth up to the coding and switch, but not new tail lights, I'm the oddball who is happier with my pre-lci tails than the LCI anyway. I'm going to try cleaning the existing light switch contacts before spending money to replace it but if I do replace it with the updated revision that should stop the headlight issue. Would have been neat to gain rear fogs at the same time but I don't want to spend much on it.

If it is any consolation, being from New England, I don't think I have ever used them. I just did the switch and coding because I had the wiring and the lights had the functionality. Totally useless given the one foggy morning/night we have here a year.

They're good for tailgaters!

On the plus side I “fixed” the headlight switch by cranking it left to right rapidly, repeatedly. I read that on a post somewhere else and believe it or not it worked.
