Interior control dial part # and replacement

The second image shows the control bezel. If anyone knows how to replace it? I've seen two options online for parts, replace just the buttons or replace the whole thing and wondered if anyone has experience with either options?

Bonus question: if you know part # for the plastic shield in the first picture; sits right behind the heat shield for the exhaust I will love you forever.

Use real OEM to look up the part numbers using the VIN. Replace just the buttons from a used one imho as the part might be coded to the car or at least try it first.

The part should be coded to the car, but apparently works without coding.

Reason I know - Mine spent 5 weeks in the dealers having the controller replaced because they borked the coding job. Even with the coding incomplete, the controller worked fine.

Just don't try changing it's type, e.g. don't try to upgrade to a ceramic controller or use one from another model and you should be good.

Wonder if I could use bimmerCode to set it once I replace it? Kind of sucks I have to get it coded which means at that point I might as well have the dealer do it all.

I know you said it works fine without it but I need the peace of mind!

I had no idea what "real OEM" meant other than you were saying use real OEM parts but I have just found out there is actually a site called realOEM.com and that's sure enough where I finally found out what it part it was!
