Exclamation ‘18 BMW M550i Tires Question

So I am trying to get new tires, and I found a good deal on a set of 4 and was wondering if they would be fine to run. I have the stock 20” staggered setup. The tires I am looking to run are 275/40R20 rears and 245/40R20 front. I would really be able to appreciate the taller side walls.

That setup will not work properly. The diameter of front and rear (or the revs per mile/km to be more accurate) must be the same or very close. The setup you propose will interfere with stability control and damage the AWD system.

If you would like taller side walls in the rear, I would suggest that you could possibly try to fit a 245/40R-20 in front and a 255/40R-20 in the rear. That combo is staggered but very close in revs per mile. Or simply run 245/40R-20 front and rear. The potential problem with these solutions is that your rear wheels are wider than the fronts and the fitment of a narrower tire on a wider wheel may not be optimum. A good tire shop can advise you on that issue.

My stock setup comes staggered though? Originally the car came with 275/30R20s on the rear and 245/35R20 on the front.

Which have the same overall diameter or revs per mile.

The specs will vary slightly by make and model of tire, but are about as follows:
245/35R-20 - 777 revs per mile
275/30R-20 - 784 revs per mile

A difference of about one percent or under is generally considered acceptable.
