Ignition Saga
Butting up against my Coolant Saga is the fresh new hell of an ignition saga.
After replacing the coolant return line from the turbo and reassembly, I had an immediately noticable misfire in cylinder 6. ISTA singled out 6 but also listed all cylinders misfiring. In an effort to DIY this, I threw a bunch of parts at it. Something I am learning is not the best idea. That said, I replaced plugs, installed new camshaft sensors, and new vanos solenoids. The batteries by this time needed replacing as well, so that was needed and purchased. During this process, I discovered that the coil connector on cylinder 4 had become fractured and was fastened in but in two pieces, likely causing a short. I replaced the wiring harness. The next issue to present was a crank, no start. Which I am still trying to figure out. I have ordered a new Integrated supply module but don't know if this is the cause. But what else could it possibly be? I have checked all fuses associated with iginition and injection, and for that matter all fuses in general for continuity -- visually inspecting the injection/ignition fuses along the way. I had taken it into the dealership early on but they had declined to do the enough diagnosis, declined repair, and asked me to pick up the car. After getting the car back, I discovered that ISTA would no longer connect for some reason. Obviously, I should have taken it to an outside mechanic and bit he bullet. At this point, both, I have come this far, but I am thoroughly discouraged. Not to mention blinded further by not being to get ista to connect after the dealership visit. I am hoping I can learn how to restore ISTA connection and hoping that the Integrated Supply Module that I ordered will be the needed piece to the puzzle. |
