540i exhaust advice?

Hey everyone, just got my new to me 2019 540i and love it so far, but I want it to be louder. I’m not sure which route I should take. Should I do a muffler delete, resonator delete, or both? I want it to be loud enough where you can really hear the B58 and you can hear it from inside the car, but not too loud to where it would be annoying, have a crazy drone, and just sound bad. Also would appreciate if I could get some insight on pricing, as I’m going to get it done tommorow. Thanks!

Edit: Sorry, forgot to mention the last owner did a slew of cosmetic mods, one including custom exhaust tips. It still has the stock exhaust though. Also thanks everyone for reccomending aftermarket exhausts, but I’m 18, just traded my Honda accord in for this, and can’t afford that right now. Maybe in the future, but for now would appreciate just muffler/resonator delete advice

I would start with a resonator delete first. By the looks of your pictures it looks like you already have a aftermarket exhaust?

I would be interested how you have quad pipes if there hasn’t already been some work done. Can you take a picture of your exhaust behind the diffuser?

i dont recommend deleting either one, you will get a louder sound, but that comes with unwanted noise

I recommend upgrading the exhaust or downpipe, you wont just get a louder tone but also a better sound like a deeper midrange

If you were to get a Remus catback exhaust the resonator would be deleted. If you get a new downpipe get a good quality one. If not you will smell gas fumes.

I want to put quad tips on mine but I’m having a hard time figuring out how to get them in the space with the stock muffler. Can you take a pic of what has been done to yours?

You might have to get a new diffuser depending on the size tips you get.. Look on eBay there are many to choose from.

I agree with mike@x-ph.com

About not deleting either.

For me it’s not just about loudness but a rich, deep, clean exhaust note.

My suggestion would be be to grab the m performance exhaust from a marketplace for a good amount of saving and go with that.

That's the difference between a car that's loud but ricey and one that's loud but sounds great.
