M550i N63 Wastegate Actuator Pain

I've got a wastegate actuator issue on my m550 N63. bank 2.
I was getting jammed code messages intermittently, so I ordered a replacement on ebay. The turbo itself appears fine.

Installed new actuator and it moved a bit on PAD mode. Now is making a high pitched whining sound. I installed the old one, and now it's making the same high pitch whine. The turbo gate is not currently screwed on to ensure it's not bound up.

ISTA shows 123704 Electrical wastegate valve 2, position sensor, signal: Short circuit to ground.

Anyone got any ideas on this? connections seem secure and no sight of corrosion.

I find it weird that my original actuator is also whining now. I never had that code until I installed the replacement unit.

Do you all think I should connect bank 1's actuator to the bank 2 connector just to eliminate? I'm worried that I may fry it if the DME is hosed.

I'm going to get a new meter today and will check 5v/gnd from the connector later, but wanted to see if anyone had this issue or any ideas.

Had the issue. I bought a new wastegate actuator ~$650. Just take off the air box stuff, the O2 sensors, and the heat shield to get at the actuator. Haven't had any codes since. Took ~1.5 hours taking it nice and slow.

At what mileage did the wastegate actuators failed?

Idk but mine may have failed from being damaged during an install. Seems they may be sensitive. Could be a damaged pin on the dme too.

Wow. I just had to have my wastegate 2 replaced by the dealer. Thank god for extended warranties a 2k plus replacement with labor cost me under 100 bucks!

I replaced the wastegate actuator on bank 2 but this did not fix the short to ground, and short circuit codes. I'm going to assume it's a dme bank 2 issue. Anyone else get this issue, perhaps both o2 sensors also having similar codes? These parts seem to be on the same dme pins.

Do you have the part number for the new wastegate actuator?

123525 was fixed with oem actuator. I first used a 'oe' actuator from eBay but that didn't work. Use oem and avoid the headache.
