Upgraded Charge Pipes
What’s the consensus with upgraded charge pipes such as VRSF or FTP.
My 540 is stage 2+ and don’t have any intention in the future of going bigger turbo. I will be fitting the MST intake kit and thought is it worth doing the charge pipes while in there? If the stock pipes are more than up to the job then I would just leave it. Cheers Last edited by G31_540i; 06-15-2025 at 05:01 AM.. |

The cons of the plastic charge pipe is that it might get eventually brittle and crack up. The popular idea for upgrading charge pipe early on came in as before B58 the charge pipes used to be mounted with one end at the engine and the other on the chassis, hence the engine vibrations eventually stressed out the charge pipe. The B58 has both points of the charge pipe mounted over the engine so that does not happen anymore. My suggestion is that since you are going to upgrade the intake, might as well upgrade the charge pipe.
