I think you mean MSRP, but again, correct. if the BMW dealer is charging $300 for a $200 part you can buy from BMW online... the cost of the part is $200.

Thanks, yes typically diagnostics is part of the overall repair as long as the repair is done with the same dealer so hopefully that's taken care of. They used the term aftermarket but from the way they described it it sounded liked MSRP to me too. Seems reasonable.

Well that went very well. Car had $3K in repairs (water pump and soft close door lock actuator). Route66 covered it all. I paid all but $77 for coolant. I've pretty much broken even on the EW already.

I've been looking at getting the Route 66 warranty, do you have a contact there? If I can get the warranty and a better rate, that certainly wouldn't hurt my feelings.

Damn, seems we made the right choice here and it also seems the deal we got is no longer on the table. We certainly made out - ~$3,000 for seven freakin years. Unheard of. I am not close to breaking even yet because I haven't had any issues. They paid for a TPMS sensor that was like a couple hundred bucks but denied my claim for a new B&W speaker, which is excluded in the language.

$77 bucks for coolant, that's great. Curious, how much was the water pump and how much was the actuator? On the actuator, was the door not sucking in/closing all the way?

LGE Credit Union gave me a quote for just the warranty. When do these go into effect? After shelling out for a new radiator, I'd hate to fork out the cash for a warranty only to have something denied because it happened right after I bought it.

Indeed! Although it is nice if you don't have to use it (I hate having my car in the shop for days on end and the engine fiddled with multiple times). I also had a coolant hose denied previously and had to pay $1100 out of pocket.

The door was closing fine but the lock was not engaging/disengaging. It was stuck and door was not opening from inside or out. My wife had to crawl out from the drive's side. Thankfully, our baby was born a few weeks ago otherwise we would have been in a real bind getting my wife out 9 mo pregnant lol.

The door lock actuator replacement also needed a soft close motor, so together that was 833 parts and 650 labor. The water pump was 307 part and 1300 labor. The 77 bucks for coolant include taxes too.

With Route66 I believe it is a month from the day the contract is signed.

Route66 is only sold through credit unions. You do not have to be a member to get a quote so shop around for ones that operate in your area. Prices do vary from one CU to another. To purchase you will have to open an account but can close it right afterwards. Note, a CU does not have to be in your city to operate in your area, some cover pretty large geographic areas.

If you call Route 66 they will tell you exactly which CU sells in your town.

I found a local credit union (Maps Credit Union in Salem, OR) that sells Route 66 Easy Street. They require that you set up a savings accounts with them to get the warranty but they do not require you to have financing with them. You just set up a savings account, deposit the money, and they will withdraw the warranty cost from that.

I've just received quotes over the phone from them for 120K mile coverage. The prices are a few hundred dollars more than what I've seen here from HFCU (I've been unable to reach anyone so far at HFCU), but they are very responsive. This what I got for my 2020 M550i with 55K miles:

5 yr/120K - $3550
6 yr/120K - $3655
7 yr/120K - $3740

Just got off the phone with R66 warranty. I was inquiring about a 22 BMW X6 m50i which they can only do a Powertrain Warranty, and it is called 1st Street.

They gave me a local Credit union in my town if I decide to purchase.
All pricing comes from the C.U.

Kristin sent over an VSC example.

It includes the enhanced electronics package and the total loss package, I believe that's the same offering as HFCU.

Yep, that’s EEP or enhanced electronics package.

I've reviewed the contract, drivetrain only coverage with a max payout of $5,000? This is terrible coverage?
