LED kidneys - outline

Hi guys, anybody already installed the new style LED kidney grills, with the outline strip, like newer BMWs have?
I already have them at home, I'll report once I install them

I have seen quite a few reviews on Aliexpress saying the clips are delicate and break easily. I’m very interested to see how your install comes out, please do report back. Is your car LCI or pre-LCI?

While looking for more information about the installation I found this German video review that includes installation of the grill. The power supply connection for the new grill appears to piggyback off of the power connection for the headlights.

The audio is in German, however, the video does have captions that can be turned on to Auto-translate the dialogue into English.

Cheers

Yup, mine is the same, only pre-LCI. It has a connector to plug it in to the cars' wiring. My kidneys have only white color, not blue like this one.
I'll report back how the installation went

So, installation went really smoothly, I managed to swap the double slats inside for my previous single slats, which align perfectly with the inner active shutters. I didn't have to drill any holes, plugged in connectors, tidied up the wiring in the engine bay and that was it. Works well and imo looks very nice

Is the kidney grill also illuminated while driving?

I'm a bit confused... will this fit a pre-LCI with the two, separate grille pieces?

Yes, you can see I have pre-LCI. They are also making one for LCI models, a single piece, this is two piece set.
The video that "New5Series" user posted is unrelated installation video for the LCI version
