G31_C_Pillar_Trim_Removal

Hi there,

Trying to replace my remote receiver module under the rear boot side trim, which requires me to also remove the C-pillar trim that covers the C-pillar airbag.

Should I disconnect the battery first to avoid accidentally setting of the airbag?
Common sense tells me yes, but will disconnecting the battery reset anything else on the car?

BTW, anyone know where the battery is located in a 2017 G31 and how to access it?

Thanks in advance

I can confirm that for most electrical work, it's always best to disconnect the battery, which is located under the service container in the trunk. If you need to work on the airbags, you absolutely must disconnect the battery, as there's a potential risk of accidental airbag deployment. Also, be very careful: if yours is a mild hybrid, you must open the hood engine before disconnecting the battery, which will deactivate the 48V battery, and you must leave it open until you're finished.
In any case, disconnecting the battery isn't a problem. At most, you'll need to reinitialize the window and sunroof controls.
To disconnect the battery, simply remove the red positive cable.
