B58 knocking / clacking noise

Knocking / Clacking noise

Can’t for the life of me figure out what that loud rotational clack is? Only thing close I’ve heard is piston slap which I sure hope it isn’t.. I’ve heard nothing but it’s a healthy motor don’t worry but I can’t help but.. WORRY.

To me, sounds like you may be low on transmission fluid with valve clatter. Might want to get underneath it and listen close to the transmission pan. May need to check by pulling off the underside panel , see if there are any leaks. I say this, as I just changed two vehicles transmission fluids and at first start, it sounded like that until I filled with more fluid. Just a suggestion....

Very interesting you say as it is noticeably quieter if not gone while in park. Once put in load either reverse or drive she starts to get noisy. Was planning on servicing trans at 80k (currently at 75k) might as well just do it now.

I have same problem and this knocking sound also in D/R. Do you found solution? Change oil in transmission helped?
