See this thread here where it was discussed that a new BDC would be required, https://cartechnology.co.uk/showthread.php?tid=70478 I would love for this to not be the case, and have already bought the proper driver’s door panel switch with the correct button. Currently I am using a remote controlled relay switch that operates my sunblind and it is powered by a fuse tap at the rear of the car. I am quite interested in how well your wiring will go, and if you are successful, I would love to follow suit. I truly hope you are correct and that the rear electric roller sunblind can just be simply wired to the BDC and coded, that would be fantastic. Good luck with your wiring, I’m excited to see if this will work out. Cheers |

I think this diagram may be out of date or inaccurate, from what I understand the rear electric roller sunblind is wired directly to the BDC.
I’ve attached some PDF wiring documents from ISTA that I came across in my research. The rear electric roller sunblind is labeled M57 in some of the wiring documents. Hopefully these may be helpful to you. Cheers Last edited by New5Series; 04-09-2026 at 02:13 PM.. Reason: Spelling |

I guess I can look at the BDC and see if there's even pins present in slots 1 & 2 on that connector. Maybe that is what they meant. The BDC has an internal relay and those pins won't even be there for the connector. |

I checked the partnumbers for the BDC and there is no mentioning of any option codes. Like for the door switch it mention the S416A for roller blind equipped cars but for the BDC not a single code. Thats why I think they would all be correct and only needed coding because a new BDC is the last thing you want to change on the car.\
On the otherhand I retrofitted headlamp washers on my car and I only had to code the BDC to activate the Headlamp washer Pump. |

I agree with Yetello that I don't see anything regarding a relay, or different part numbers for the BDC depending on option code. If the pins are present it should just work. It could have been that other forum poster had an early model or a poverty spec g30 which did not have something in the BDC for it. It looks like the part numbers used on a 2017 525i and a 2021 m550 do not share any part numbers. They are separate lineages it seems from 2017 to 2023. I'm still going to give this a shot and worst case I'm out a few bucks and time for the switch and will have to wire it like others have done to a switch Best case it works like factory cars. |
