I went to Evolve Automotive this morning to have the MSS Adjustable Springs fitted to the car. They did an amazing job and turned it around in around 3 hours. The fronts are set to a 30mm drop and the rear is set to 25mm. Just on looks alone, it has transformed the car and can't get over how good it looks!

The ability to set your desired 'drop' is worth the extra money in my opinion. You get a C-Shape Spanner that fits onto the adjuster. If I were to adjust them, I'd put the car on axel stands/ramp that way both sides can be done at the same time.

On the drive home, it was like driving a different car. From the get go, it felt very planted and responsive. Taking the 3rd exit on the first roundabout I came to, I chucked it in as I would normally and the way it handled it was so much better then on the stock springs - much more sharper. That floaty like feeling was gone.

Knowing that they are manufactured by Eibach gives you that extra piece of mind and confidence too! In essence they are the in the middle between lowering springs and Coil overs. I wanted the lowering springs mainly for looks but this way you get the extra added benefits of the improved driveability - (I always drive in Sport or Sport Plus so having that comfy ride doesn't bother me that much).

Overall - Really happy!

Hey just a follow up on this i started fitting my MSS springs and noticed that your spring perch seems to be installed t an angle whereas i put mine straight in? I must recheck mine and see how they sit now after a few miles of driving

So I took that picture on the first day and noticed the other side was straight. I took it back to Evolve and they re-seated it and now its straight. Your one is 100% correct!

What did you set the drop to front and rear?

Ok thanks for clarifying that! The instructions weren't the best i wasn't 100% sure. Ive only done the rears so far, i set them with 10mm left on the threaded section on the rear as its easier to adjust them lower than raise them i believe.

I might have a small rattle from the rear so i need to double check everything and ill proceed with the fronts this weekend if i have time

How about rear? Do you have VDC?

no, the rear 540i and xdrive badges, i dont think mine has any trim badges on at all, but would like to reinstate the model designation on the back.

Some more visual changes done yesterday. Went back to A1 Customs UK to have the following done...

• Smoked PPF applied to the headlights
• Front windows, subtle tint 50%
• OEM M Perf decals applied to the car

Really happy with the outcome. Makes the car look a little more stealthy and aggressive . Also adds a layer of protection on the lights

I was sceptical at first as I thought I'd lose some brightness from the headlights. Went for a drive in the dark and you don't really notice much difference. They are still quite bright to me. Also I read that some tints on headlights can give off a brownish colour - happy to report that you don't with this (not sure if that's because it's PPF compared to normal tint)

I'm not usually a fan of headlight tints, but that is nice and subtle. The headlights a very bright chromeness in standard form. I was actually looking at the side skirt decal kit lately to protect them more than anything. Did you go with BMW one or an aftermarket option?

Yes, they are the OEM ones. I was lucky enough to have them gifted to be by a mate who had a G30 but then switched to an F90. He didn't get round to fitting them before he sold the car. The part number is 51142350435

In regards to the side decals do you know if the MPerformance logo is printed into the sticker or an additional sticker on top of the main one, i would consider fitting them if that was removable for a more subtle luck

Xpel makes a kit specifically for headlights and fogs that are tinted. I have them.

Its PPF material. I think its by Hexis as that's the company that A1 use for vinyl wrap and other bits.

The logo is printed on. I have seen the ones on eBay where the logo is applied separately if required.

I was a late adopter to the world of Instagram. It's the only social media I have. Just use if for car related posts etc

Another interim oil change done after 6k. Next one will be done at a specialist so they can update the idrive service history.

Went with Liqui Moly 4200 5w30 oil.

Someone did say to me that using 5w30 is going to kill my engine since the car is tuned - apparently I should be using 5w40 - There's many oil threads on here and I didn't want to start/get involved with another

It ran the 6k before this with no issues so I'm not that concerned and will continue to use 5w30.

P.S - It's always nice to see a B58 oil filter come out in 1 piece!

Such a relief isn't it when the filter comes out nice and easy on one piece!


I've an oil change due in 4000km I debating main stealer to keep the FBMWSH or just find an Indy that can properly update the Idrive (sync with BMW servers)
