I went to Evolve Automotive this morning to have the MSS Adjustable Springs fitted to the car. They did an amazing job and turned it around in around 3 hours. The fronts are set to a 30mm drop and the rear is set to 25mm. Just on looks alone, it has transformed the car and can't get over how good it looks!

The ability to set your desired 'drop' is worth the extra money in my opinion. You get a C-Shape Spanner that fits onto the adjuster. If I were to adjust them, I'd put the car on axel stands/ramp that way both sides can be done at the same time.

On the drive home, it was like driving a different car. From the get go, it felt very planted and responsive. Taking the 3rd exit on the first roundabout I came to, I chucked it in as I would normally and the way it handled it was so much better then on the stock springs - much more sharper. That floaty like feeling was gone.

Knowing that they are manufactured by Eibach gives you that extra piece of mind and confidence too! In essence they are the in the middle between lowering springs and Coil overs. I wanted the lowering springs mainly for looks but this way you get the extra added benefits of the improved driveability - (I always drive in Sport or Sport Plus so having that comfy ride doesn't bother me that much).

Overall - Really happy!

Last 2 pictures are before/after (Weather wise, it wasn't the best of days for pictures!)
Looks perfect to be honest! My only question is with people in the backseat and if you go over a pothole or speedbump, do you get any rubbing?

Thank you

No issues at all when people on the back or if the car has a load in the boot. The wheels sit just inside the arches and there is enough room for it to compress without any issues.

Golden Wrench Blackline Overlay Kit added to the LCI rear lights.

I had these on my Pre-LCI lights and liked them alot. Gives it that more stealthy look

Fog Light Delete!

G30 Aero Retrofit Parts fitted yesterday to my 540i... in essence, it's a fog light delete kit. I've always thought the fog lights looks out of place on the front of a G30 (maybe BMW themselves had the same idea, as the LCI cars now don't have fog lights on the front either). OEM Parts were german ordered via Rybrook Warwick and I had the Cerium Grey finisher trims painted gloss black. Turn around from them was 6 days which was great!
I think it looks more aggressive and cleaner, especially with the beefier finisher trims. These parts come standard on an M550i as they have an auxiliry radiator behind those grilles.

Install was a bumper off job in the end, bit of a pain but worth it I think!

No errors with the fog lights disconnected but I will code out with BimmerCode. Wiring taped up and secured behind the bumper.

Next job is to remove the active grill shutters or keep them open!

Vorsteiner Style Roof Spolier

Been thinking about doing this for a while and finally decided to do it... Roof Spoilers seem to split opinions greatly on this forum, from what I've read!

The main reason I went for this one is, the profile and shape of the spoiler matches up with the M Performance Pro style boot spoiler I have.

It's from JBSpeed and I chose it in Gloss Black (they do body colours too). It will work well with the black roof and also fit in with the gloss black theme on the car.

Thank you to peteinpa for the advice, answering my many questions and for sharing the link. Much appreciated

Looking forward to getting this fitted soon, once the weather warms up a little. I did a quick test fit - it sits and fits well.

I've seen it on another bluestone and this it looks great. Pictures below (car belongs to darek_g30 on Instagram)

New GPS Antenna & TC Battery

Not quite a performance or visual modification - more of fix to an issue I had this week. When using the navigation system, it was placing my location around 70 miles off from where I actually was.

I tried a few things to rectify the issue (idrive resets, battery disconnection and even trying to enter my position in manually). I put a thread on here and I was given instructions on how to access the hidden service menu in the idrive. This allowed me to check the status of the GPS signal and found the antenna was at fault.

After doing some research on how to remove the faulty part and how to get access to it, I ordered a new antenna from my local dealer. I also ordered a new Telecom Battery. This is located in the TC Box on top of the headliner and under the shark fin antenna. You need to loosen the headliner at the rear of the car to gain access to the TCB. Removing this away from the antenna allows you to unscew the T25 bolt at the top and the part is free to be removed.

The reason I ordered a new TC battery is because I've seen a lot of people having to replace this recently - especially on cars that are 2017 and 2018 builds. Mine is a Mar 2018... it was only a matter of time before I had this issue.

The install of the new parts was quite easy. The battery is enclosed in the white plastic case and is easily accessible. On removing the old one, it had a manufactured date of Sept 2017. The antenna has 2 clips on the bottom of it. They fit under the roof skin and then the TCB clips onto the underside of the antenna. I would say the most time consuming task was removing the shark fin cover. I have a gloss black wrapped roof and didn't want to damage to vinyl or any parts. (I did at first think the roof wrap may have caused the issue or the shark fin not being sealed correctly - but that was done a many months ago and everything has been fine until the other day)

Thought I'd do a little write up to help anyone that may have these issues. Few pictures below of the errors I had before, install pics and after.

Part Numbers:
Antenna - 65209303037
TC Battery - 84102447710

Roof Spoiler Install -

I got round to fitting the 'Vorsteiner' Style Roof Spoiler last weekend. Very pleased with the way it looks, ties in well with the gloss black roof and the other bits on the car. I like the way the lines match and follow the M Performance Pro Style Boot Spoiler too.

The install was straightforward - it was a 2 person job though. Combination of 3M VHB tape used and also some Evostik 'The Dog's B*ll*cks' Adhesive and Sealant - this stuff is really good (used the same stuff to stick on the boot spoiler). Left to set and cure over night.

Thanks to peteinpa for the advice and guidance with this

That does look good. I know it’s not everyone’s cup of tea but they are our cars so.

Active Grille Shutters - Removed

Finally got round to removing the active grille shutters today. Been wanting to do this for a while as in my opinion, they kill the look of the G30 at the front.

Overall, it wasn't too difficult to do. You just need to get over the fact that you need to take a cutting instrument to your car. In my case, it was some garden lopper shears and plastic cutting tool. The motor is still connected and spins as it should. This way there is no error codes/EML.

And obviously by doing it this way - there is no going back afterwards!

Full Bolton Garage has a great video up on YT. You just need to make sure to completely remove the shutter arms from the motor - if they are left in, it will interfere when the motor spins.

The other option was to disconnect the motor once the flaps are open but you can still see the flaps at the back - I didn't want to go for this look.

The main reasons for doing this was aesthetics, but also to aid cooling and improve air flow. I don't think by removing these grilles, the car will take an age to warm up. Maybe an extra few minutes or so - but that's the same as cars that don't have these grilles.

Really pleased with the way it looks now. The front end of the car has come along nicely, especially since I removed the fog lights and installed the M550i aero grilles and trim finishers in gloss black.

Rock Guard

Fitted the OEM Rock Guard to my front radiator today. When I removed the active grille shutters, I noticed the radiator had a few dents on it. I started to look into some kind of mesh protection, but then found that BMW actually sell this as an add on (I've seen some LCI cars now come with these as standard). The car should of come out the factory with this on in my opinion!

It was a straightforward install - a few bits needed to be stripped down from the top and then the cover piece on top of the radiators. There is enough room to get your hands in where the kidney grilles are to get it into place.

For anyone interested in the part number, it's 17118741573.

There is also a rock guard / frame for the auxiliary or external radiator located behind the lower passenger-side intake. It seems a much more involved process to install the new frame. Part: EXTERNAL RADIATOR FRAME 17118742470

I think I'll go ahead with the main radiator part for now.

Thanks for doing this so we can see what it takes to install the main guard.

The UK cars don't have this auxiliary radiator (mine doesn't, it wasn't there when I removed the fog lights). I've only seen it on US and some Europe cars.... maybe it's only for cars in those markets?
