I am…less than a fan of the grill slats. The other day I saw an “M540i” with the fake M positioned as tackily as possible, with the slats on the front. My wife usually rolls her eyes at them before I do…

That said, I don’t view the anniversary badges as even in the same universe. The only thing that really influences the anniversary badge is the production date. Most of the ‘21 and ‘23 lineup are just about identical to the 22’s, not even any mechanical differences to speak of. Fair game in my humble opinion. You wouldn’t even know it’s “fake” without literally running the VIN. And were/aren’t they offered as a dealer retrofit?

But this is coming from someone who put knockoff eBay LCI taillights on their car and has no shame about it.

Thanks, I’ll definitely check that out. Yeah, he’s groomed once a month. We really should be better about brushing him out more though in between groomings.

I don’t have a huge problem with people putting anniversary badges on non anniversary cars. I personally don’t care for them. It doesn’t resonate with me as a poser territory as much as ///M5 badging a 530 for example.

No issues either with retrofitting in general whether they be OEM or really good knock offs. My LCI tails aren’t the first BMW I’ve upgraded the rails on. I know people that have done a complete M5 conversion on their G30. On issues as long as they don’t put an M5 badge on and they didn’t.

Tri colored slats aren’t a BMW thing.

Every time I’m driving with the wife and see a car approaching with those I make a comment. Sorry to say, it’s usually something like “look at this idiot” lol. My wife is into cars as well and usually she will defend personal taste, but even she laughs now because it seems to be my kryptonite.

Yup, similar words come out of my mouth when I see a tri colored grill coming at me on an X3 or X1 for example. Then I just laugh and shake my head when the person looks over at me. I say to myself, you are not part of my club.

I agree. I think the anniversary badges are a different class than grill slats. Badges being more like retrofitting tail lights. It’s just a personal thing for me, I don’t get bothered by someone else. I just feel odd putting an anniversary badge on my car when I know it’s not an anniversary model. If I had an LCI and everything was exactly the same, as was mentioned before, I might feel different.

Cheers, yeah I was pretty confident that it would but seeing as it’s the first mot during my ownership you never know if they’re gonna find something worn in the suspension & I didn’t know if the date expired bonnet struts would be a thing.

When the G31 was driven into the bay the guys working there just stopped what they were doing & all came to have a good look at the beige estate & made lots of nice comments, especially about the colour, which is always nice

Today was a busy day for my m550. I blacked the roof, blacked the door handles, tinted the side reflectors, powder coated the wheels, wrapped the spoiler (CF), installed m5 CF mirror caps, added M valve stem covers, installed m license plate holder + vanity plate, and added painted m550i badge!

Oh and hand washed it!

That colour reminds me of the God awful Daewoo Matiz that my Dad bought, he reckoned that he got a ‘good deal’ as it had been discounted because of the colour

I think your vehicle is wrapped, right? I would consider color matching the reflector but that’s just my personal preference vs tinting.

I bought an CF m5 style spoiler but I couldn’t install it without rewrapping my trunk and color matching would be really difficult so I’m planning to bring the black down from the roof on top the trunk and then installing the CF spoiler, using the spoiler as a break from black back to green.

Also gunna put a gloss black license plate frame or Cf license plate frame soon. I wanted to debadge the xdrive badge all together but I have to see if it pulls off wrap with it. If it does I’ll paint it black and leave it. Also might color match the bmw roundels to black and “my green” I have a really good relationship with my wrap guy and we wanna try some cool stuff. Also wanna smoke the tail lights and/or lower rear reflectors.

I happen to like the tinted reflector a lot more than I thought I would. I wanted black accents to make the green pop more and it’s done exactly that. It looks so sick in person with all these touches.

***also getting rid of these trash can pirelli run flats. Bought the car with them on it and waiting until they are toast to get some beauty Michelin pilot 4s shoes.

Are those yellow calipers wrapped or painted?

I have the CS CF Spoiler. It will go in the same place as the stock lip spoiler, but it will cover more, so keep this in mind if you are worried about the wrap, it could cover some edge blemishes. I assume your wrap guy went around it. If so, it will come off easy with some fishing line, but getting the adhesive off without hitting the wrap with the adhesive removal wheel can be challenging, but do-able with a steady hand.

My $0.02 cents, I don't think the black trunk is a great idea. Also, my overall comment, know when to stop before heading into ricer territory. Car looks good, not for everyone, but certainly an eye catcher.

Yeah I agree. To each their own, but if you’re trying to avoid “that’s a bit much” reactions I think you’re approaching it with the aesthetic modifications . Hard pass on the lid top, if you need to rewrap to install your spoiler that would be the only option IMO. Love the yellow calipers on the green, unique look.
