Or this, one of the best Drum Videos all time. 25 million views. If you have a nice home surround this is AMAZING.

You're into death metal Mark? I've never come across a genre I don't like. Just added Hooker to my library. Off to the gym!

I don't get it. Under 5k miles? Fuel service? It's direct injected, so "fuel service" that's tied to valve seals is a bit misleading. Are they talking about blasting the back side of the intake valves with walnut shells to clean off the carbon deposits? Either way, it doesn't make sense at 5k miles. What did they want to charge?

I'd like to see more of that wagon! Also looks like verde ermes on the X3, I'd love to get that color on the next car.

Lol yea me too. Ive always wondered when I annihilate granny in her oldsmobile if she's impressed by the gap. I'll have to have someone film me. I'm too curious to see what it looks like. I tried to correlate his speedo to what my speedo would read. I know over 100 the mph get gobbled up pretty fast. I was reading comments at the bottom, they were saying it's a mini. If ours looks like that I'd like to see your viper in action, assuming it's not roasting those 14's when you mash it.

Yes it's that time of year. Don't forget who gave you all these freebies when you go to the voters box. As they say here in IL, vote early and vote often, even if you're dead.

It was about $300 or so. Maybe $350? I was told some additive was put in their to "protect" the fuel system in addition to everything else. I was offered this about a year ago on my older E60 535i and I declined it then too since I was planning on selling it in a few months so I don't think having an N63 triggered some pop up to tell the SA to suggest this service. It might just be a crock like I suspected. Something to tack on to the bill for those who may not know any better, like myself.

It was listed as a "fuel service" on the sheet and said customer declined it but there wasn't even a breakdown of what was included so I look like a fool here trying to explain it when it was only explained to me verbally. Just sounded like a flush and some additive put in there to protect the engine from what I remember and even that may not be what he said.

EDIT: This is not the dealer I went to; this just popped up when I searched the term on Google: https://www.newboldbmw.com/blog/2020...m?locale=en_US

But it sounds like the description given to me. Additive, cleaning, fuel system, etc.

Another search result popped up from this forum from over a decade ago: https://www.m5board.com/threads/bmws...s-this.202447/

Doesn't seem to be something new but also kind of dumb for a one year old car with less than 5K miles.

The funny thing is that our cars are direct injected. The fuel doesn't pass by the valves and this procedure does nothing to help the valves as advertised. You're right, They're looking to wack people that don't know any better.

The older style port injected cars may have benefited from that procedure as the fuel injector placement is upstream from the intake valves. An added cleaner would actually do something. The fuel actually passes by the back side of the valve. This cleaning service is an old service that they kept going. I don't know if BMW even makes port injected engines anymore. They went to direct injection for fuel economy reasons and you have a higher detonation threshold...more boost, more power without consequence.

The downside to direct injection is that fuel doesn't pass over the back side of the valve to clean it. Because of the pcv emissions recirculating the crankcase ventilation back though the intake, oil droplets are introduced into the system consequently coating the valve stem. Over time this oil bakes on the valve stem and the build up destroys the valve seals....causing significant oil consumption. The M550i "hot V' turbo placement makes this oil baking situation worse and this is why they added better heat shielding to the newer N63 models.

I had it done on our 2012, when we had it, IIRC around 85K miles. They inject some kind of cleaner (BG?) into the the intake track which does clean the back of the valves.
