Look at page 38. This is the us docs so the 520d is not listed but appears to be 540i or "better"

You should already have. Did you car come without paddle shifters?

Is there a transmission difference on the 520d? I know the 320i for example does not have the sport transmission, nor paddle shifters, and Sport+ is not an option either. It's still an 8AT. Just wondering if there is actually a hardware difference or they simply pull the paddle shifters and disable it via software.

ECU's are the same. Not sure about other hardware.

in original i haven't (i have the paddle) but i can activate it by coding.
The only question is...which difference from Sport? I see that the gas is really reactive but i can't see DSC off...is correct?

In g30 the sport plus disable DSC or not?

Sport has multiple modes (individual, sport, sport+).

Sport+ is DSC off.

You can either code just paddles to verbaut or 2TB.

Traction means dtc is enabled as opposed to being completely off.

Does that help or have I misunderstood the question?

I thought Sport+ was DTC mode. Traction control disabled but DSC still on.
Press and hold the Trac Off button to fully disable DSC. Correct?

Yes brief press gives you dtc with traction displayed in cluster. Some slip but dsc still looking after you to some extent.
Hold for about 10 seconds and dsc completely off. You're on your own!

Sport+ doesn't do anything with DTC/DSC, that is still at your discretion via the button. As an example, for launch control, you need Sport+, brief press of button to put DTC on (some slip allowed), and then do the brake/gas pedals...

So the cluster indication is just for show in Sport+?

I don't see any sign of DTC/DSC going on or off when switching between modes.

And when i push the car, traction control behaves exactly same in sport and sport plus modes - does not kick in any sooner or later in either mode.

Here is a photo when in sport plus mode, it just says sport plus in the instrument cluster

Afaik when you look at the sport configuration display, it shows "sport plus" only affects engine and transmission. On top of that, you may want to enable DTC for traction control, like stated above.

That is different than previous BMWs. My X4 definitely enables DTC (no traction control) when in Sport+.

But good to know. Thanks.

Don't want to be disagreeing with Almaretto as he's damn knowledgeable on these cars but my observation is the same as emre - no indication on the instrument display that DTC/DSC changes at all with activation of Sport+. I can then press the DTC button to cause that to happen - have an M550i with 2VW Adaptive M Suspension, active roll stabilization, rear steering.

G30 data for models with Sport+ states:

Quote:
The SPORT+ mode influences the accelerator pedal characteristic curve, the shift points and the Active Sound Design.
There is no mention of DTC being activated as part of Sport+, as in previous models.

I was not not disagreeing. I was asking for confirmation. Good to know there is difference.
