Simply interested in why users opt for the systems they run. I'm aware many don't actually choose their suspension through comparisons, often not aware of which setup would really suit them better.

I'm assuming the professional system, (like Adaptive Drive in the F10/F11), takes the G30 chassis to another level, something many will never experience.
Being honest I was scared off a bit by some of the reviews - some liked it but others complained about the varying steering weight and feel being far too artificial and inconsistent. As I did not want a racer in this car - I opted for the "consistent" setup that still had DDC and the regular M Suspension with M Sport.

I also chose the comfort seats as part of the Premium package - and as I wrote in my other thread - they don't hold you in place very well - so that additional suspension and anti roll would have been ill matched and wasted with those seats. I am firmly of the belief these latest sets of cars - for all makes - will struggle with handling expectations as you cannot get around the weight and size of these newer gen cars. E39's they are not lol...to me they are luxury first that you can take on spirited drives on some twisties. I would avoid the road course however.

If you're putting heavy emphasis on steering, you're going to be disappointed, there's no other way to put it. Doesn't matter if it's 530/540 with or without M options, there's nothing good to say about it from an enthusiasts point of view. But as a luxury car, it is fantastic. It's not as dead and lifeless like an E-Class, but still smooth and comfortable, going a bit stiff as you increase speed.

If you're looking for a balanced car, the 5er is still the car to get but if you're still looking and hoping for BMW to get back to its 5er roots, don't waste your time. With that said, those of you who are interested need to test drive and need to forget about the media/reviews. Reading the C&D review, I thought I would be disappointed until I drove one.

The F10 550i doesn't have this problem - you can drive it in Sport mode without having to listen to some artificial engine/exhaust noise. Comfort mode gives pretty lousy transmission and throttle response, so that's not a good way to drive either.

Does anyone know if the 540i also makes such noise in Sport mode?
All BMWs have had Active Sound since around the 2014 model year if I remember correctly. I know, for example, my brother's 2012 F30 328i did not have it but his 2015 328i does and it sounds completely different inside the car (much better with Active Sound in the case of the 328i in my opinion). I'm about 95% sure your F10 550i does have Active Sound (unless you have an early model year?) and it is active to a lesser degree in Comfort mode in addition to a louder setting in Sport mode.

Active sound is hit or miss in my opinion but it usually sounds much better in person than it does in videos. My 340i has the M Performance exhaust with both flaps unplugged so the system is a full straight pipe all the time (other than the one catalytic converter, of course) and I found it too boomy and slightly drone-y with Active Sound on, even in Comfort mode ASD was adding a bassy sound during freeway cruising that was annoying. I bought an ASD delete wiring harness to get rid of it and now I absolutely love the sound of my car in both modes but I still sometimes miss the Sport mode interior sounds. Even with my fairly loud exhaust system, it's still pretty quiet inside the car during quick driving without ASD. In the future, I can see myself plugging the valves back in and turning ASD back on to have a wider range of sounds between Comfort and Sport.

Hey, if you don't mind me asking, how much are you paying for your finance/lease on the M550i? I also live in Ontario but the online car builder doesn't have financial prices yet.

Aren't they the standard m sport brakes and 19 inch wheels?

that's what I'm saying.

Was hoping they would put the front seats on a diet and improve rear leg room. Doesn't look like a major improvement on that front which is a bit disappointing.

Tech-wise, it seems like a substantial step forward.

No, that is not the case. There is no difference in sound between Comfort and Sport in my 2016 F10 550i. It's equally quiet in both modes.

A few people who own the 540i said that the 540i behaves similarly to my 550i. It looks like if you want a quiet Sport mode you need to stay away from the M550i and go with the 540i (or disconnect the active sound module somehow).

Active Sound Module doesn't sound as terrible as I thought would be , I find it cool may be coming from a car that's equipped with that option that amplifies the "sonic" sound thru pipes is a reason why it doesn't bother me that much . However, there must be an option to disable it even in Sport Mode .
Sometimes, I must admit I enjoy what the car throws at Comfort Mode than what I hear in Sport Mode .Because the ladder is too loud too
Autogefuhl's reviews are useful and I watch them with an attention ,his test on the remote parking was very insightful too

Damn! The color combo is stunning,...this may just be the "Signature Color" for the 2018 M550i! Just as,..IMHO, I think that Singapore Grey is the Signature Color for the F10 M5! Again,...just MHO!!

Edit #1,...I'm thinking folks will use the "Remote Parking" feature more to warm up the car during Winter months,...and cool it down during Summer months! Finally,...Remote Start in a BMW,...from the factory! This is great,...as Remote Start even comes on a freak'n Chevy Cruze.

Edit #2: I was just thinking,...this guy is going to move a lot of BMW M550i's for BMW!,...his check from BMW should be in the mail!,...or at least his sponsors! :-)

So you need to be like 10 feet within reach of car to do it. Shame. Remote start to heat up in winter is a great idea - sounds like software only tbh. Not sure why they don't do it.

What is this horrible grey colour in some of the parts?
This is not a cheap french car. Bmw should avoid this kind of details. They are not needed in this type of car and price tag.
Please please do not spoil next M5 with this ridicolous feature!!
