Med blue w/ cognac.
19 in wheels, standard 704 sport suspension, m sport brakes, exec pkg, active driver assistance plus, multicontour seats, heated front/rear seats, sunshades (for the baby), HK sound, leather dash, and a few other bits i can't remember (ordered mid-february). My goal was interior comfort/luxury and driving convenience but as "sporty" of handling/speed/performance you can get w the inline-6. 19 inch vs 20 inch wheels/tiresfor lower rotational mass, standard sport suspension to avoid extra complexity, weight, and floatiness of "dynamic jandling package". I was originally ordering the m550, but too nose heavy and less balanced than the inline 6. I think the 540 w mppsk is a better BMW than the faster m550. |

Chose the exact same color combo and wheels as you. Think it's stunning and somehow dealers don't order them that way. I dont get who orders cars for dealers but almost every g30 i see locally has everything but the the nice touches like the Icon headlights and exec package. I have actually yet to see any Med Blue in person that wasn't a m550 at the 9 BMW dealers, and commutes here in LA.. but i cant turn and not see a black or grey one. Even on autotrader it is one of the rarest exterior colors to see and certainly the hardest to come by in Cognac. I get their prime demo, but why is Med Blue the only real color at all? Not that I would want a red 5 but damn give people options. Even the stock individual colors are tame. Congrats though! My soon to be retired lead foot will be with you in spirit ![]() |

Just curious - what happens to the bits they swap out? .. are they just forfeited or do they give you a credit of sorts, or hand them back in a box?

I have looked at the stats, the improvement is 25bhp and 50nM of torque. seems rather minimal in terms of improvement against the price. In Singapore the whole package is approx. USD 7,600 inclusive of install, etc. seems rather pricey for such minimal gains.

The gains feel much more than the numbers suggest. It turns a good car into a great one.

![]() PS) The new M5 had an interior the same as mine no better with my Nappa leather, all it had was two red M1 M2 buttons, exterior mine was a better colour and my wheels were better. OK performance from the M5 was "license loosing", but my car is very quick, so............. 540i

I have driven the new M5 too, its amazing car. But I dont think it worth the money.. - well If that much would not be a problem for me ofc I would go for it. But actually the price diff is higher than performance diff. Btw on thursday they are going to start with Mperf installation and friday done. Looking forward! |

Some interesting and very agreeable views on the M5
I've only seen one but not driven one yet. Of course it's impressive in many ways but I think in the UK it will struggle due to pricing. The market for £100k cars is very particular and BMW doesn't usually perform very well in the segment. If money was no object I'd get one, no point lying!!! However, having driven a 540 for over 4 weeks I've not once been left wishing for more power or performance. I think for UK roads, speed limits, congestion and political culture, the 540 is more than enough. When/if the new M6 and M8 get launched here, they will face very similar issues. The UK landscape is changing, so far no 540d M550 models here and that doesn't look like it's going to change!

I would agree....the improvement of power and torque over base seems much more than the modest factory-made claims. Car and Driver tested a non-MPPSK 0-60mph at 4.5sec and a new X3 M40i 0-60mph in 4.4 seconds. I haven't gone beyond 4-4500rpm yet and have only driven about 100 miles, but i have no doubt a 540i xdrive with MPPSK and not too many heavy options (like rear wheel steer and dynamic handling pack...so a less heavy car than C&D tested) would easily be do 0-60 in 4.2sec...if not 4.1. Which puts it right into the thick of a Benz E43 for about 15k less similarly equipped.
So far, I couldnt be happier with the MPPSK....definitely transforms the car. I had a 540i xdrive sport line loaner car...and i was underwhelmed. The MPPSK makes this feel like a proper BMW sports sedan...just stick with the 704 suspension bc it's a near perfect balance of buttoned down handling, without being harsh at all (properly set up as is from factory). The exhaust is killer as well...my wife was not too happy when i revved the engine before i pulled out of the garage this morning and woke up the baby....oops (but i couldnt help myself) |
