HELP - what is this steady knocking noise?

Hey there, reviving this thread since I recently started hearing this exact noise on my 2008 E92 M3, did replacing the A/C compressor fix this ? Thanks Again

yes it did
pulley was starting to crack and was spinning off balance so it was knocking against the compressor
