I have searched here and other BMW forums, searched using Google, Bing, duckduckgo, etc. Re-worded my search phrases/words multi times. Only real help was a youtube in japanese. Good youtube although they cut a couple of the simple things that are sometimes not that simple. They may have talked about it but did not show it.

Does this help at all?

Quote:
1 – Remove front ornamental grille
Prerequisite
Engine compartment lid is open.

Undo front ornamental grille (1) out of latch mechanisms (2).
Pull off front ornamental grille (1) from the rest of the latch mechanisms to the front.

2 – Replacement: Replacing the front ornamental grille
Renew the front ornamental grille.
Parts: Ornamental grille

3 – Install front ornamental grille

Prerequisite
Engine compartment lid is open.

Check all latch mechanisms (2) for damage, renew front ornamental grille (1) if necessary.
Position front ornamental grille (1) at the upper latch mechanisms (2). Do not lock latch mechanisms (2) yet.
Position front ornamental grille (1) at the lower latch mechanisms. Do not lock latch mechanisms yet.
Press on all locking positions of the front ornamental grille (1) until all latch mechanisms are audibly engaged.

Carry out tensile test on front ornamental grille (1).
Using both hands, grip each of the kidney grille fin as shown and pull on it to test the tight fit of the front ornamental grille (1).
If necessary, press down front ornamental grille (1) again at all the latch mechanisms.
There are pictures, but they're just of the grille.

Thanks.

Am all done. It ended up being one of those rare jobs that was easier than anticipated.

I changed the camera in mine after it was cracked. There's a tab on either side, you need to gently pry them aside and the camera will come out. It's a tight fit. You need to squeeze the plug to undo it from the camara.

Just changed the grille on my G31 LCI. It took a bit of a tug to get the bottom clips out. I used a bit of heat from a hairdryer since it's chilly here and thought that might reduce the risk of plastic breaking. This F90 video was similar:
.

I had taken the car though an automatic car wash and three of the grille's vertical bars got ripped out. I know they're not a great way to wash a premium car, but it was a modern one with textiles rather than brushes as the owner's guide recommends. Both BMW and the car wash operator denied responsibility and said it was not a common occurrence. They suggested that perhaps the grille was previously damaged. I do wonder if it is a bit of a design issue with that grille though as it doesn't look all that sturdy.
