Also random question, like I said I had a F10 535. I I had a carbon spoiler on the car which I kept, do you guys know if it would fit on the G30? I’m assuming it won’t but just curious if anyone knows. This is more so just wishful thinking on my end.

No, it will not fit. There are many options for spoilers for the G30. Stock lip, CS, or CS Pro. All OEM offerings but of course you can get each one in "style" form on eBay. I went with RW Carbon CS:

You will see those elitist "over here" comments ad nauseum.

Anyway, enough on that. I just can't help myself when I see his personal bias trolling comments without substance steering someone in the wrong direction.

Here I go again, haha.

Go out and get it! As I mentioned, I had a 2012 F10 535xi. It was such a nice car and so well engineered by BMW. The G30 continues on it offering a bit more size, tons more tech and an even better I6 in the B58. I went with the M550 as I test drove it and that was it. I suggest you don't test drive an M550

One other benefit is that you will get closer to a 50/50 weight balance with the B48. My Touring is 50/50 with the B58, but the sedan is not quite as balanced.

Given the benefits in handling, the more-than-adequate pull, and the fact that you can't fully enjoy the more powerful engine, the 530 might not be a bad option--and you save some cash.

Sound won't be great ofc, but hey...
Can't fully enjoy what? Tromping on it while merging into a highway? Big open highway spaces to get those MPHs up? Are you either a WOT or nothing kind of guy? How in the world can you NOT enjoy any car? LOL

Back on topic - if you're a car guy (which I'm assuming you are, you're on this forum) get the 540i. Do your research, take good care of her and she'll treat you right! Picked mine up about a month ago and absolutely love it.

Man I know if I drive a 550 I would’ve fell in love. I was looking at some f10 550 and the M550 but the ones in my price range were either damage reported or crazy high miles. One day I will definitely own a F10 M5 though

Funny, I am always looking at the F10 M5's, the last M5 you could get with a 6 Speed MT.

I followed this one and thought hard about getting into the bidding.

😂😂 I am always checking that website too, just to see them. I’ve found a few clean ones in my area, but just not the right time for me. I’ve saved the VIN numbers so I can track them down when I’m ready for them one day. Hopefully sooner than later, would be an amazing car to have.

You would enjoy it much more here, where you can use the power.

That said, the 530 (in sedan form) would handle better.

Your decision, ofc. Facts are fun, even if sometimes annoying.

If that were true that “here” is the ultimate environment for driving the highest performing cars, why did you sell yourself short with the capable pedestrian 300ish HP I6 and not the beast M550? Oh wait, we all know, the weight distribution thing? That half pound. Continue to rationalize your choice as better than everyone else’s.

Christ you would think the entire US is like driving the Amlfi Coast. Big fucking deal, you can drive 100 mph legally, so that means driving our open highways at 85 mph is just for 4 bangers. You’re such a condescending ass Larry.

The only fact is, the 540 would be much more enjoyable. If I really want to go fast, there’s always a track. The freeway is more than enough though honestly idk how I wouldn’t be able to enjoy it. I had a blast with my 535 on the freeways so the 540 will be just as great.

It truly must suck for the people that bought the F90 m5 or really any car other than a 530. Those people probably don’t enjoy driving their cars since they live in the states

I like simple things, a straight six is inherently balanced, no balance shaft is needed. So the choice is easy for me.

I was in the same dilemma, bunches of 530's decked out with low milage compared to the 540. I guess there's a reason, people weren't satisfied with performance. My wife's X3 has the 4 and I'm in no way impressed with it. Winds out fairly fast and dies at around 60.
I actually found a gem of an 2018 540 xdrive with only 29 on the odo. While not an 550, it gets the job done.
Only reason I had to look, my beloved 2011 335d got totaled, no less, by an uninsured driver! I loved that car! It hauled a@@!

Easymoney - what is your budget BTW? I'll keep an eye out during my daily perusing of dealer inventory. Don't be afraid to buy out of state and have it shipped. I see something around here, I would be happy to check it out for you. I have 7 dealers within a 50 miles radius.

Thank you man greatly appreciate that. I’m looking at some for under 40. I would like the miles to be pretty low, no more than 35/40. I did find a clean one and will be checking it out on Sunday, hopefully it’s not sold by then. I am looking for it to be M-Sport and the upgraded seats. Any other options would be nice as well. Again, thank you for the offer, I appreciate you going out of your way to do that.

Weight is the enemy of fun, particularly in the nose. The harmonic balance is just the icing on the cake.

I do enjoy a good V10 though, but they need to be mid-mounted or the joy in the holistic sense is lost.

I once did that, too. About 20 years ago. I don't miss it!

The 540 remains a lovely vehicle, however. Balanced, comfy, and quite satisfying in general.

My car before my 540i was a nose heavy Audi, so I had no complaints for the B58 lol

You made the right decision :-)

I have zero regrets about spending the additional money on my 540i, or taking the additional time to find the one I wanted. I ended up driving from AZ to CA to buy it. I absolutely love my car, and the engine is a big part of that (especially now that it's tuned).

Edit: The tunability (and reliability even when heavily tuned) of the B58 engine was actually what started my quest to buy a 540. I had been sort of thinking of getting a new car for a while, and out of boredom one day, I looked at reviews of midsize sedans on a few car forums. I was so blown away by the gains and the very positive experiences posted, especially on this forum, that I thought "I have to have this car." I think I started my search that day.

I’d get the 540. I’ve driven all the 5’s. The 540 is the smoothest.

530 has to work too hard. Too heavy.

M550 is awesome and I have one. The power is noticeable but some don’t want that much power.

540 is smooth as silk. And still very fast, relative to cars in general. I also owned one of these before I traded for my M550.
