I wonder how many drivers will come in immediately after 1st lap, and again in the 2nd lap, putting on hards and finish the race. Is that doable on the c4?

I mean you'll be almost a minute with all that clean air, the ultimate undercut and suddenly everyone is behind you. Yes on newer tyres, but where would they overtake?

This has been suggested and I think even the boffins in the teams may be ending up in a dead end whichever way they go, Hannah the RBR strategist will have her work cut out.

All because of that 3.3 seconds red flag/lap completed finish gap, tough for Ollie with the abort signal shown on the start gantry as he approached. His time should have been allowed as he was well away from the Cola crash.

You'd be stuck behind Bortoletto the whole race while p1 pulls away. Interesting idea though.

C4 (hard) "average stint length": 64.5 laps.



"Average" = longer stint possible, but beware of deflation. Also, the driver may be struggling in the final laps to keep the car away from the armcos.

78 laps. Safety Car = low tire degradation laps.

If the weather is expected to remain dry and you're not in 'clean air' during lap 1 (P1), give it a try: lap 2 (C5/C6) + lap 3 (C4) pit stops.

There will be copycat behavior.

Teams could also fool other teams by mimicking an imminent (dummy) pit stop: pit crew ready outside with all gear and subsequently back into their pit box. Or a dummy "Box, box!" call followed by "Stay out!". Distraction. And having a good laugh if McLaren takes the bait and pits.

Wouldn't be surprised if several backmarkers (including Bortoletto) and some midfielders pit during lap 2.

Lap 1 could be mayhem. The usual killer bees pushin' and shovin' hassle through Turn 1 after the race start: high risk. If front runners (P1-P2-P3) collide in that corner, fighting for track position, there will be a massive concertina pile up. It's Monaco.

those who pit on lap 1 and 2 will be killed by ANY safety cars as those who stay out and pit under 2x SCs will be laughing.

however i don't think there were any SCs last year. normally there there are at least 1.

The thinking from the regulators is to have a black sheep on the podium but pushing a bit for a winner maybe. For those diving into the pits after just one lap completed for a tyre change are safe from a DSQ as the start/finish line (if in the same location which I think it is) is before the pits lane entrance.
