Here’s the bumpf from K&N’s website

4 LAYERS OF PROTECTION: Multiple layers of premium cotton gauze treated with a specially-designed tacking agent work together to create an intricate mesh of engine filter media that is designed to block and trap harmful contaminants
RUGGED CONSTRUCTION: K&N Universal Air Filters are manufactured with durable, premium materials and state-of-the-art construction methods to last a lifetime
CLEAN ONCE EVERY 5 YEARS: Engine air filter only needs cleaning every 75,000 miles under normal highway driving conditions (5 years based on the average miles driven per year of 15,000 miles)

Bought it, actually.

At a hotel on my way back home. Flew up to Albany to get it. It's supposed to snow tonight and I have no scraper. We'll see how that goes in the morning.

Thanks, might look into that, more to save the cost of changing too often.

Yeah, I think they are a win, win. You can buy a ‘recharge kit’ for under £15 which consists of a cleaning agent & filter ‘oil’

Took the G31 out yesterday & it does feel more ‘lively’ with the K&N & there’s also a nice new noise when pressing on

Made it just fine, the snow forecast ended up being much scarier than what actually fell.

And these are actually All-Season P7s. Which I will probably replace with Contis.

I cleaned mine first time since Christmas! It was hard work, started 11.00am finished and all stuff packed away 15.45hrs.

Snow foamed & jet washed, wheels cleaned mix of snow foam and jet wash rinsed, then Sansom accelerate non acidic wheel cleaner & rinsed. Lower body with citrus pre wash & rinsed, two bucket method wash with Meguires Gold shampoo & rinsed, Sansom hydra spray & jet washed off then dired with Auto finesse aqua deluxe drying towel.

All door, tailgate, bonnet shuts cleaned.
All glass cleaned with Sansom Clarity Hydrophobic Glass Cleaner externally and Ultimate finish glass cleaner internally.
Tyres dressed with Autoglym instant tyre dressing (only one I had left).

Mats removed and vacuumed as well as car and Interior trim wiped down with Gtechniq I2 Tri-Clean.

Little bit of sunshine came when I finished forgot how good Tanzanite blue is..

Love the Tanzanite color! I have Carbon Black which is similar but not quite the same. And lucky you for being able to buy a wagon, which we Yanks can't. --Bob

Thanks. I nearly bought a Carbon Black X5 when was looking to change the 340i, colour was amazing changing from black to dark blue in the sunlight thought it was a nice change as the previous 2 cars were both Sapphire Black, but issuse with the car meant I didn't go ahead but found and bought the 540 instead. It's a great colour when the car is clean

Could never understand why you guys didn't wagons in the 5er

Thanks it is. I really like it.

Every car I've had for the last 20 years I have always on receipt, put it in my garage & taken 4 days ish to give it a full detail & machine polish to de-swirl and seal the paint. We moved house a while ago and now unfortunately don't have such a big garage to do that any more.

So, when I got the 540 last year the dealer was around 230 miles from me and I had been expressing my concern about swirls etc., (it being a second hand car). I said if I came to look at it and it was as described I would have it, if not I would just walk away. He told me that they use an outside person to prep their cars and he would ensure it was spot on. Having knowledge of local dealers I had little faith with their standards, so half expected to come home empty handed.

I arrived, ther car was in the showroom and knock me over with a feather, it was immaculate in every respect, in fact it looked better than the new 440 it was parked next to. Needless to say I drove it home.

So I've looked after it carefully over the last 8 months and it still comes up well, just have to keep it like that until I can clear the smaller garage of junk and squeeze the car in!!

That is such a nice color. It's like a shade lighter than CBM.

Dang, too bad that dealer's so far. Otherwise I imagine you'd have asked for the guy's card. I'm on the hunt for someone local myself - I lack the knowledge to really correct paint, and especially to apply a quality coating.

Just sharing, definitely not supported in ID6 cars, but maybe ID7. I will check it out on my X5. Not really sure what this is but I will check it out.

Hope the pictures load up fine this time.

I replaced my written off 2017 540i with another 2017 540i last month. We went from Black Sapphire Metallic to Alpine White.

My gone but not forgotten 540i in BSM, paint corrected and waxed by myself over a week at home.

I changed the 19" black 664m wheels to 20" 2-tone 759i wheels. As I was not liking the black wheels.

Progress from last week, we went from this

to this

Did you install the 245/35 & 275/30 tires? I've been thinking of going with a 285/30 for the rear as it's closer to the 245/35's revs per mile.

Have an excuse in the name of ‘market research’ to take the G31 out tomorrow to see how much of an improvement, if any the K&N makes
@Wanker why does the old filter look like a dryer lint trap that hasn’t been cleaned after 200 loads?

Lol, yeah it was pretty mucky. I guess that’s what sucking in good old UK air for 20,000 looks like

lol. Only 15,000 imperial miles over due. You probably get an instant throttle response and 56whp swapping to new filters. I’d clean new ones at 10k. k&n mileage recommendation is crazy.
