Many people hardly ever change the setting, so wont miss it.
Way too many have complained the dial is there over the years.
I've seen comments here saying it's:

A) Confusing as other brands don't have this functionality at all.
B) Best thing since sliced bread.

Just can't win!

Agree... IF the new A/C works as you'd expect, i.e. keeps the temp as per degrees set....

On my F10 it does not, so I constantly use the dial in Winter at least

I test drove a G30 today. Few observations.

One thing that hasn't been mentioned in any of the reviews is the indicator stalk.
The function is like the old Exx cars.
ie you push it all the way down and it stays down. Unlike the modern bmws where the indicator stalk returns to the central position even when active.
Just felt like a step backwards. Maybe some customers found it confusing.

I also noted there is a USB port and 12v socket in the cup holder area. A USB & 12v in the arm rest. Plus a 12v in the rear.
There are now 7 programmable short cut keys on the dash. The 8th is now a connected drive button.
The icon lights and m sport did look special compared to the SE and standard led lights.
The SE comes with paddle shift as standard.

My current car is a 4 series. This has a button on the end of the rhs stalk to turn on the rain sensor wipers. The G30 however doesn't have this button. Instead you push the lever up one notch (to the old intermittent position) to turn the active wipers on. May mean you can leave it on permanently rather than pressing the button each time.

Great observations, thanks! Having only 7 prog. buttons gives me a headache...not sure which function I'll not use.

I only use about 3 on my current car. So not worried. Just a few observations.
My G30 arrives with Berry Heathrow at the end of February. Tracking the VIN, it should be built early next week. Hoping to collect 1st March.

Indeed that looks like the same rhombicle hex pattern as the dash on the G30 M Sport. Granted, it is not the whole surface, thre is still some black shiny surface.

My assumption is then that on M sport the default is the same material as the dash strip (as per the F10 M Sport combination), and for SE etc. it may be that shiny black... but my money is on the fact that it is a optional extra on all cars (piano black)

HAs anyone seen a picture of cognac interior with Black piano trim or Finline ridge trim?

True but I don't live nearby so hopefully the one I saw will be more accessible and I can sit inside.

The Bluestone metallic looks more grey in this artificial light

Berry Heathrow is my local BMW, will go and have a look too
How much discount did you manage?.

I wonder if this can be adjusted to current F10 behaviour in the settings. In my F10 you set the indicator stalk to do 3 flashes (comfort something wording)... let's hope so, because I like that feature

They changed this because people didn't understand the "returning lever" functionality. Both behaviours will let you do the three blinks though.

Aha OK... clear... (I think)

I have got used to the F10 way (never had previous versions)...

I did however find it too sensitive when turning and you turn then slightly go back to 'straight line' and then continue with the full turn the steering wheel...

So what does the new G30 function actually do...? i.e. if you press the indicator, does it stay there continually until you physically push it back to zero?

I guess it will work like all other cars do; it stays there until you turn the wheel and it mechanically returns (but probably electronically and with the same rules in software as earlier). But it lets people return it physically. In the F10 you have to turn it in the opposite direction to force it off. Weird for some I guess.

Below Dave stated there are buttons for three blinks but I do not understand that. Perhaps a US thing.

Yes, in my F10 you do have to turn it in the opposite direction only if you want to disengage it BEFORE you have brought the car into a straight line (I use that a lot so not confuse others when joining traffic, problem is it temporarily shows the indicator light going the other way than your original turn )... it would be better just to give it a slight nudge.

As for three blinks we have that in UK as well on the F10, always use it... slight nudge of stalk does three blinks (useful for overtaking etc.)..

I guess I need to drive a G30 to see exactly what happens - 7 weeks to go !

The buttons are for the park light on one side only, for when you park longside a road and want to make the side of the car close to the road more visible.

No need to push it in the opposite direction and get a blink or 2 into the "wrong"(opposite) side.

You just press the lever in the same direction it is already indicating and it cancels it...
