Calling out all the ISTA+/ESYS gurus...
I've never seen that, nor have I ever seen any kind of fault warning from the car since installing mine. Does it only appear on a scan tool?

Correct, only appears on scan tool. Dash is free of any faults.

I've ordered this part and as a member of the OCD community, I'm going to attempt removing the trim panel piece off the new part and my old part, tracing out the cutout for the new button on my old switch trim panel, and then Dremeling it out hopefully as straight as possible. I will lose the little LED that lights up when the gentleman switch button is activated, but that's a small price to pay for a proper fit.

Will keep you updated on the project.

What's your interior color? Honestly, at the angle you would view the switch, you don't even notice the size difference.

I just tried it today, 2021 540i, as describes around here, coded with Bimmercode and everything, and to my surprize, it doesn't work. Neither the mirrors and the windows controls from the driver's side. I tried putting back the old seat switches, restored the backups with bimmer code, and the same. Had this happened to anyone else?

Did a scan with bimmerlink and I got this errors:

4 errors
  1. 8044D7: Interior light layering FI-LIN-1: Number of layering slaves incorrect
  2. D90D07: Control unit door switch center (SZT) (LIN): Missing LIN slave
  3. D90D0A: Left exterior mirror (LIN): Missing LIN slave
  4. D90D71: Switch block seat extensions FA: Missing LIN slave

Is it something that can be solved easily or a visit to the dealer should be planned?

The gentlemen switch only controls the seat functions.

So I was trying to do this conversion as well.

From factory I do have the drivers seat (Sports seat) with memory but Passenger seat doesn't have the Memory. So installed the Gentleman switch at the driver side and an additional memory switch on the passenger site.
Connections are all ok (power, lin line and ground). Only thing to do is code the BCM so it will regognise the passenger seat has a memory switch as atm it won't show the gentlemans function on the passenger side.

Also there is no SM[e] in the CAF file.

Does it need a seat module for the passenger side? Non are showing in the wiring diagrams for my car. driver and passenger diagrams are identical and all the memory switches are doing is sending the bits to the BDC. The BDC is seeing the passenger memory switch as it is throwing up a faultcode saying the switch is there but the BDC is not coded for it.

Where can I get the correct CAF file for it?

Am I missing something or is it just not possible to get this on the sports seats and is it only available on the comfort seats.

Seems like you have an interupted or short to ground Lin line. Usually the white- Blue wire. all the systems are connected to that Lin line and is the communication line to the BDC.

I have figured out how to remove the error. I have only tested this on my g30. I have the Multi contour seats, that are heated/ventilated/massaging. Also very important, this retrofit only works if you have:
Multi contour seats
or
the base seats, but with passenger memory.
if you have the base seats without passenger memory, this WILL NOT WORK.

but anyways, this is how to remove error:
go to bdc
under 3090 HcSeatHeating
go to SCHALTER_SITZEXT_VL_LIN_VAR
and this is where it depends on what you have. I had:
SZF_GKL_MEM_MASSAGE_BFS_RL_BFSH_RL_FSH_LL
so I changed it to:
SZF_GKL_MEM_MASSAGE_GENTL_FS_LL

the reason I picked that one, is because its the only one that has GKL, and massage on it. what you have can be different. idk if what I did was 100% the correct thing to do, but everything still works correctly, and there is no more error. here is attached ss from bimmercode. Try this at your own risk, and if you do change this, try all the functions make sure they all work, and also read the codes make sure you dont have any.
