I thought i would throw in an update here for anyone interested, i haven't updated things in a while it seems. just a quick summary for this build thread,to get up to July 2024 spec!
I'll be starting off with a new tuner to see if they can help get more out of my setup on an e40/e45. My last tuner couldn't get the E50 right, constant misfires and hpfp crashes so i abandoned that, things are nice and stable and the car performs great on the e30 tune. it turns out you cant really run e50 with my fueling setup so it was struggling with the higher blends, time to try a new tuner alright!
In terms of power/cooling, mods just a few tweaks:
Wagner intake manifold - helps maintain a lower IAT and charge temps stay lower on a pull and recover a lot quicker.

Osprey Performance sports cat downpipe - my VRSF sport cat stop passing emissions test to it was time for an upgrade, 5 inch version so one of the better flowing sports cat options out there it seems

Active grill delete - i had the grill motor disconnected for the last couple of years, but seeing the flaps still behind the started to annoy me so i chopped them out for a cleaner look

Autotecknic M5 carbon air intake scoops - with the active grills out these scoops fit on the 540 too and hopefully help direct a bit more cool air towards the air intake ducting

Handling:Front and rear M5 competition sway bars and endlnks - this was a great cheap upgrade, i got them used off Ebay Germany, removed from a low mileage car

M5 competition front 6 pot calipers with custom adapter brackets Goodridge braided brake lines, ATE type200 brake fluid, EBC redstuff pads

TEC Speedwheel GT Race ultralight 19 inch wheels with fresh rubberContinental sport contact 7 tyres

Some recent fun was had in the 540i, a track day, this is the only local track i have access to, its pretty small and technical so not really suited to big cars like the 5 series. Lots of fun was had and car performed great with no issues apart from an bit of wear on the shoulders on the left side tires(mostly right turns on this track) :

Some Drag racing fun up in Northern Ireland for BDD Bishopscourt run what you brung event, i won more than i lost, getting 25+ runs in throughout the day, i pray for my drivetrain now but all seems ok ! :

When you had the active grill disconnect I assume you had a check engine light? Do you know if there is a way to disable the light? I want to cut my active grills so bad just dont wanna deal with the light right now haha

If you just disconnect the active grill motor, it will store a fault code, but it wont throw a CEL, once you disconnect it when the grills are in the open position

Thanks!

Yes i had the dragy working, 10.9 was the best 1/4 mile run of the day

Not bad for a heavy daily driver! But definitely room for improvement with some future mods or on a prepped surface with stickier tires

Really good 60ft times. Are you using XHP or TCU tuning?
