Went with BMW 0w-30 FWIW and a Mahle oil filter. Changing the oil in the M550i is so much easier than the X3 w/the B58. The oil filter location in the B58 is stupid. Just stupid. Oil goes everywhere unless you stuff 100 rags around the oil filter housing.

I'm missing both of mine too. One of them covers the drain plug and the other one covers the..idk what. I think it's like $20~ from the dealership. Just too lazy to drive to one and then lift the car up to put them in.

It's one of the few options I don't have that I wish I had. Just a plain old back up camera.

So I made a post about a message on the My BMW app to enable My Trips and how after following the instructions I still could not get it to work.

Someone said they did the steps and a few days later they got a pop up on their iDrive screen saying something new was added via Privacy settings or something like that. Just came back to post that it did indeed happen today. I was in line at Taco Bell so I could not see the message in its entirety but after coming home and check the My BMW app, I can now see the My Trips tab. Unfortunately, it only began logging my trip home, after it showed the pop up message in my iDrive, so nothing for the past one year of ownership. Probably those privacy settings prior to enabling My Trips.

But it worked, just like someone said it would. It just took about a week after changing/approving the privacy settings in iDrive.

In case anyone has this issue in the future....

I always send my oil out to blackstone. It gives me peace of mind and provides perfect documentation of the oil change frequency for warranty purposes.

I also tried out the auto lane switch the other day and it worked as well, as shown in the video. The car does seem a bit timid and takes about 5 seconds before changing lanes, but it does it. I was just assuming with the blind spot monitoring running all the time, the car would have all that info already and switch immediately when it's safe to do so but when I tried it on a very empty lane, the car still took its time prior to initiating the lane change.

I might be complaining too much but I thought it would start the process faster, at least on a wide open road.

lol considering it takes 10 seconds even for the phone to ring after you dial from the HUD. Im not surprised it takes 5 seconds for the car to actually move lanes.

The long wait was worth it! Order and deposit placed with dealer in April, allocation received for July, landed in Baltimore on Aug 5th, sat forever due to work order hold, finally arrived at dealer on Sept 28th.

Haven't had a lot of seat time yet, but love the car. Leaps and bounds better than my F30 in terms of ride quality, comfort, level of luxury, fit and finish etc. Realize that's no surprise to anyone here, but in case there are any 3 series owners considering a change...The only thing my F30 had that would set it apart in a positive way was the nimbleness/sport oriented feeling. Granted I haven't had an opportunity to push the 5 yet, but anything lost there is more than made up for via the other qualities I mentioned (happy to prioritize those).

Re color, some may remember from previous posts that I originally chose bluestone which I lost when my build was pushed to 2023 MY. Prior to the '23 configurator being online, skyscraper grey wasn't available as an option with m sport, so I picked phytonic blue. I have been back and forth on that choice and even considered canceling my order and submitting a new one with skyscraper. While I do really like skyscraper (pics posted on the forum look great) and actually saw an M5 in it when I went to pick up my car, I will say the phytonic also looks great in person. I had only seen it in person on other models and non m sport G30s. It looks notably darker on the G30 with m sport. Surprising that the black vs. chrome bits can make that big of a difference but it does.

Have tints and ceramic scheduled for next week. Weighing a few other things but want to take my time and add things gradually.
