I was expecting more revision to the interior; to line up with the shift area, start button, and HVAC controls of the 3 series...which are also across many other BMW models now too. I'm waiting to see if the iDrive 7 light in my 2020 can be upgraded to full iDrive

And don't get me started on the new HVAC controls crammed in between the center vents! Too bad this car could not be spared from the awful reversed tach and Speedo.

Wow clearly a few G20 haters in here
Seriously though, I use voice to change all my HVAC settings so rather than take up more space on the dash with an additional long screen which has no use I find the G20 HVAC screen more suitable especially as you can also access all HVAC controls for both front and rear on the ID7 screen so in theory it's only there for a quick look to see what you have it set too. Centre console certainly doesn't look plasticky on mine and won't show as many scratches as the piano black. Saying that I have had both a 3 and 5 and both have good and bad points but suppose it's down to personal preference at the end of the day.

I can't find the night vision option in the lci.
Pity... I liked that option... |

The 7 LCI did get quite an extensive (for BMW standards) interiror makeover, but it also did not get the shift area of the newer BMWs, so I think it was unrealistic for the 5 LCI to change here.

On the other hand, the 530d engine got updated to the new generation twin-scroll turbo and got a nice bump from 265 HP / 620 NM to 286 HP / 650 NM. The 3 series 330d won't get it for now it seems (but the X3/X4/X5/X6 30d and the 730d). |

I'm very interested in this as a replacement for my F80 M3. I realized the M3 is overkill for what I use it for. And I'm looking for more refinement so I think the 540i LCI m-sport will be my next car. Looks much sleeker than the pre-LCI.

BMW changed the the dash design in G05 and G07 to better accommodate a larger iDrive display (lower sightline than in G12 and G30). Putting the 12.3" iD screen in the G30 raises the screen even higher compared to the instrument panel and exacerbates the tacked-on tablet look; which BMW wisely chose not to do in the LCI 7 series.

Side air intakes on the 5 LCI Sport line remind me of the 2020 Audi Q3 and e-tron intakes though not as large.

BMW really making mistake getting away from angel eyes and kidneys complimenting one another. It was part of why brand had iconic look. They've obliterated both on other models, but even here, it's a step astray.
