Announced today, it was pretty much expected. Give Martin Brundle and David Croft a chance. These guys know F1 and call a good race.

Doesn't surprise me.

However this makes me wonder where Will Buxton will go. I did recall Ted Kravitz making a joke about having Will's back when the announcement was made last year.

Good. ESPN sure as hell can't call an Indycar race so I wouldn't imagine their F1 team to be much better.

Livery looks good! The gray tended to get lost in the pack with other dark colored cars

Mercedes Benz 2018 first engine fire up. Note the video pointing out the twin turbos wastegate's exhaust pipes (the two small ones). Seems like they're telling us by doing a bit of re-routing, they've increased volume and made an "angrier" sound.

Here's Ferrari's first fire up.

Sadly no mention of "commercial free" during the race, from lights out to checkered flag.
So don't be surprised there will be 4 mins of commercial and no recollection of what happened at all, SkyF1 won't run replay like NBCSN. Although NBC was excessive on their replays/race recap/b-rolls.

We have had the SkyF1 feed here for several years on a local network.
It was great during commercial time as they did pic in pic.
....hit the mute button & still watch the race.

Unfortunately ESPN in typical Disney fashion found a way to milk a more money out of fans if they want to see all of what we used to get with NBCSN and NBC .... now you have to have ESPN3 and ESPNews to see the practice sessions and many of the late season qualifying sessions (including the US GP) .... who the hell has EPSN3 and ESPNews??? So what I watch those channels for a few days once to a couple times a month ... Ridiculous!!!!!

I'm beginning to have such disdain for The Mouse. It has become a company of gouging / nickle and dimming their customers at any chance they get. The Mouse is a greedy little bastard.

I think I’ll pay for the F1 subscription when it launches. Tired of commericals.

That's a good idea .... hopefully it's not as expensive as DirectTV's Sunday Ticket or other sports specific "all games" packages.

I read somewhere that it should be affordable. $100 a year or something. I don’t mind for decent content. I don’t watch any other sport.

ESPN3 is their online streaming service, included for free if you have a cable subscription that includes ESPN. You can watch anything on any ESPN channel and lots of other events that aren't on TV. If you want to have that content on your TV instead of the computer, you can use an amozon or roku streaming stick for $25-30

Watching some clips now on ESPN 3 via the Apple TV ESPN app. Some preseason interviews, commentary although not sure about the presenters yet. Looking forward to just seeing some practice tonight and hoping that the app will allow for recent events to be watched rather than streaming live only.

After FP1 and FP2, ESPN3 used strictly SkyF1 feed, you can even see SkyF1 logo on some of the screens (side-by-side). but there were like a few mins of commercials every around 15 mins. consists of about 8 commercial segments.

So far it feels like watching BBC Top Gear lately. When the personalities you grown to know and connect to a favorite show are replaced 70% or so of the magic is gone. Sad.

ESPN has been nice, no commercial during qualifying sessions. Commercial ads only between Qualifying sessions.

But I think there's going to be some during the race?

ESPN still showing post quali interviews. Good guy ESPN so far.

Showing SkyF1 from the start of Q3, no commercials nor break, even showing skypad during the red flag, and also post quali driver interview.

This is probably more cost effective than NBC/SPEED has been doing and piss off less fans.

Lucky for you guys, over here in UK we barely get any races on regular channels and a sky subscription sure ain't cheap! Not looking forward to next year when it goes exclusively to Sky. I can see audience numbers falling when it does.

First time ever thoroughly enjoy a race with no commercial since the many years.
