Just curious if anyone has an Axle-Back or Mid-Pipe on order and what your lead time is/was?

I ordered the full system with the remote on December 13th with an end of February target, which is now end of March. The car is garaged for the winter, so it's not exactly pressing and March is probably more ideal for install, but it is kind of perplexing what the drivers are for this type of lead time? I mean, I don't think people are dropping $4,000 grand in droves on a Dinan exhaust. Could the volume demand be that high?

I just hope March is realistic. Curious to hear recent experiences.

For my Remus cat-back exhaust system, it took about 3.5 months to get the complete system. To be honest, I was a bit puzzled as well especially this was not a "mass market" or "cheap" goods. Therefore, it should've taken that long IMHO though.

Thanks, I agree, I am also pretty sure that the Dinan system is made in the USA, so no overseas constraints, but I am not positive.

Since this is your business, what are the issues? Materials, supply chain, labor, demand, etc.?

The delay is from the manufacturer, not us, for a better answer, you need to ask Dinan or REMUS.

If I guess, it's a material shortage, delays in shipping, and trouble finding space on boats for reasonable rates. Shipping rates are almost doubling every few months.

I understand the delay is not on you as you are just a reseller and these type of items are not in your inventory and they drop ship from the manufacture and the order just goes through you, but I thought you would have some intel. Surely if I bought a Dinan exhaust through you, I would be asking you what's up? So I was hoping you had a relationship with the manufacturers, but what I'm hearing is you tell your customers to call Dinan or Remus when they ask.

Just an update, the mid-pipe has been delivered (earlier than original expectations), waiting on the axle-back that is supposedly targeted for end of March. Baby steps! Like others, it seems the mid-pipe arrives at least a month before the axle-back. Valve Remote was already in my shop's inventory.

are there more gains this way vs doing a resonator delete and purchasing only the axle back?

That's a subjective question. My motivation for going full Dinan may be different than others, in terms of priority:

I wanted double round tips on each side. You can't do this with the stock muffler without hacking it up.

I did not want a chop and weld system that was pieced together. Even the nicest welds don't look good to me. I wanted an end to end system in tact and unmolested.

I kind of want an all Dinan modified/upgraded car.

Hey there, no way, I did not think you were taking a swipe! I am sorry if I sounded defensive in anyway. That's the problem with the written word I guess. This is my first exhaust modification I have ever done to any car. By subjective I was just saying that people take different routes for different reasons and I was just sharing mine which admittedly are a bit more unorthodox than other people's motivation. I will try to answer your question.

The gains for me are an end to end system with the Dinan name on it and the Dinan tips. They make a beautiful hand made system. There is a very small gain in hp which by all means is not even noticeable. The price tag installed is $4,000. A resonator delete is $300. Both achieve similar sound in Sport+ mode.

I assume you can do a resonator delete and get the axle-back, but they achieve similar except the X pipe in the Dinan supposedly adds HP. Also, why mix chop shop with a $2400 axle-back?

No, gains are going to be essentially the same. Keep in mind the exhaust mod is mostly for sound not hp. You do get a small gain from the axle back, I believe Dinan max gain is like 5hp. If you can afford or don't mind paying for the full exhaust system get it. However a res delete & axle back is good compromise.

For the V8, the X-pipe does make a difference. With the I6, you are just removing restrictions. Either way, performance gains are minimal. The less you have in the exhaust, the louder it will be.

So the ship date for my axle-back changed from 3/28 to 3/31, I view this as encouraging. They must have an idea to change it only two days. If it were delayed beyond 3/31, I would think they would push it a month, and then another month, etc.

Anyway, this is what I am going with, fingers crossed.

My guess is this guy replying really doesn't have any intel, so I'm hoping he is wrong. I guess what irks me is that people make their decisions on stated estimated ship dates. The mid pipe is shipped and sitting at my shop. The order was everything together. If I want to cancel, I would have to pay shipping back for the mid pipe. The Dinan website says the mid pipe "may not fit the stock exhaust " (which we know it will), but if you take it for face value, one is useless without the other, so why would they partially ship the order?

Just venting and sharing. I don't want to cancel. I just want my system before summer so I can enjoy my investment well before I start thinking about my next one.

I'm still holding out hope. I know a lot of folks in my exact situation got tired of waiting for the axle back and just put the X pipe and waited. I really don't want to do this as I am more interested in the quad tips than the X pipe. Especially since I just bought the CS spoiler specifically to complete "the look".
