After having the Dinan exhaust turn my M2 Comp into a loud beast, I can't wait to hear how it sounds on a V-8. Depending on how aggressive it sounds in sport+. If it sounds badass I will use bimmerlink and open the flaps, then pull the fuse to keep them open all the time, I will post a video as soon as it is done. Should be next week.
Just curious, any reason you bought from summit instead of dinan direct?

The LCI kinda has a diffuser so I will not be getting one, but I will post a 4K video on youtube like the other videos and share it in this thread. Like I stated the Dinan exhaust on my M2 comp is crazy, without the crazy prices. $2499 compared to Remus for about 3K to 4K? we will hear it in about a week. Sorry, I forgot to answer your question, Dinan was charging about $40 in shipping and summit had it at the same price and free same day and faster shipping which is why I went with Summit.

FYI getting items from dealers is cheaper than manufacturers direct, I know it is when customers get items from us.

As a start, we do not charge shipping, and we offer special forum members' prices on most of our parts.

Gotcha. Do you have access to the dinan exhaust?

100% correct.
There are a few M550 owners here that put the CTS system on and lost time in the 1/4 mile. From heat soak.

Go with the high flow BMC filter and remove the front charcoal filter (what i did)
The intake/turbo/blowoff noises at least doubled. That keeps it stock too.

This actually increases sound and performance? Really wow. I always thought these “performance filters” were kind of a scam.

Are there any front mounted intakes that you know if that don’t require cutting the active grill to fit?

Its minimal, but the sound increase is very noticeable. So I assume there is a slight HP increase as well. I'm sure BMW engineers built our closed system intakes for a reason. And that reason is so it does not pull hot air from the engine bay. I'm not aware of any front mounted one that does not require removing the active slats. Go with the BMC filters and remove the pre filter charcoal. It definitely flows more air. I feel that's the best method.

Go google for BMC filters. They have a really good reputation. Lots of high performance and even Hypercars use them.

In the stock intake box there are two filters. One is the normal filter and the other is a pre filter. You can just open up the intake box and pop it out with a flat head. Pretty easy from what I’ve seen.

Interesting, when I replaced mine I only had the paper filter element on each side.

The charcoal pre filter is in the front portion of the intake box, where outside air enters into it. It's much smaller than the real filter.

How has this mod been treating you so far? Any increase in noise / performance?

The heat soak issue for the cts intakes is hard for me judge as of now. It’s hot either way where I live right now so hot air from the engine bay vs hot air from the atmosphere isn’t much different. I’m still waiting for the bmc filters that come this weekend to do a couple of test runs and measure heat/ performance.

But I’m pretty sure the sound is going to be much better with the cts set though.

So I got the BMC filters installed yesterday and have had a day or two to test it out.

As I expected, it’s a noticeable difference but the CTS still allows more of a “whoosh” noise as well as hearing the blow-off valve.

The engine does sound a bit louder and pronounced with the BMC, but I’m not convinced it’s significant.

I just received the filters today. I’m going to do some testing before installing them back but as far as sound that’s what I figured.

Im assuming you’re not switching back.

As much as I loved the sound from the CTS, I don’t want to sacrifice ~35-50HP for it. My plan is to keep the BMC.

Yeah, agreed not to sacrifice the power but I don't think the different would be that significant. I'm going to and test some temps under the hook and the vents after runs with both systems.

It's pretty hot here right now too so I'd like to see the temp differences.
