Personally would never consider it due to amount of electrics and electronics in there. Just seems too risky to me. Just my take.

I know people say that it won't hurt anything, but I'm always too scared to do it. I just use a spray bottle with degreaser inside and spray and wipe by hand.

Never understood the reason for washing the engine. It's one thing to dust off/wipe the top of engine but what good can come of washing it?

in my old F30 , i had rats running amok inside the engine bay stinking up the whole area. since i parked the car at the outdoor car park.

when it came time to service it , the mechanics was surprised to find rat droppings and footprints all over the engine compartment. luckily no wires were damaged.

from that moment on, i regularly clean the engine bay (every 6 months). the dealer charges me $35 USD for it each time. so i'm wondering if i can just DIY like those guys on youtube.

I always gently wash around the engine bay when washing my car to remove any dust, since I drive into dusty quarries (car parks).

I then give it a light spray with the jet wash to rinse...…..

Sometimes I have jet wash down the side of the engine to remove any mud splashes.

Until now I have never had any problems.

Just be sensible and do not spray any electrical connectors directly.

The same advice is given in the hand book about NOT spraying the external cameras and locks directly with a jet wash.

Polish Angel Engine. Waterless wash and protectant all in one. It’s not cheap but it’s worth it.

A waterless wash will work but needs a lot of MF towels and a bit difficult to get every nook and cranny.

I´ve washed the engine bay a few times with my pressure cleaner - without any issues at all. A lot of dust accumulates, so just to make it nice and shiny. I obviously don´t spray directly into the altenator, fuse boxes etc., but keep a good distance.
