Mine are BMW stamped etched in the plastic.

I really like the OEM LCI taillights, however if I can bypass the wiring, coding and associated costs….perhaps it might be a sensible way to do the taillights upgrade. However at the same time I wanna to keep (everything OEM), not too sure the durability with these aftermarket LCI taillights. Something to think about it.

I get that thinking completely. These Chinese knockoffs were not around when I did mine, but I am not sure I still would have gone the route. They have been around for 3 months now and we still don't have a good sample of installs. This is the first on these forums. I do worry about leakage as this can not only ruin the lights but other electronics and shorts. It is more likely they are fine. The Chinese have been copying BMW lights for a long time.

Looks good. It looks like the Euro spec lights with the Amber strip lighting?

Amber turns alone makes it a winner, that's a huge positive over red stateside.

Edit: the lights came with all 4 plastic rails. The old rails indeed won't give a proper seal.

Joe, will do. The only thing more embarrassing than those pics is how filthy my car currently is- snapped them in a rush while on the way to dinner.

There were 3 major things that wasted time:
1. The lights came with adapters and instructions to plug both the inner and outer lights into them, and then plug the adapters into the car's wiring. This was necessary for the inner lights but not the outer. The adapter prevented the outer lights from working. The outer lights work as is, plugged in directly, just like the oem LCI lights. I spent an hour fiddling before realizing this.

2. For some reason a couple of the pieces of weatherproofing foam came affixed to a piece of paper instead of the outer lights. I forgot to put them on at first and had to backtrack. Their adhesive also came off stuck to the paper so I used rubber cement to glue them to the lights.

3. I didn't know how to remove the expanding rivets. Turns out it's very easy to do with a trim removal tool.
I clicked this link and made an offer for $600, just to see if they'd bite. They came back at $660, so I'm VERY tempted to accept. The no coding thing is also a huge plus for me.

Couple things: Would you recommend the tails? Seems like a yes, but just confirming. Also, there's no mention of rails and gutters, just inner and outer tails. Would also like to confirm that the listing you purchased from also made no mention of these, but it came with them anyway (assuming you purchased from the same seller)?

And yes, please show us more pics!! Thanks!!

Let me try to address all of your folks questions:

1. Rails and gutters- yes, my shipment came with them despite not being noted in the ad. Might be a good idea to confirm with the seller. They look so similar to oem that I used the dirt on my old ones as the distinguishing factor. The shape is slightly different to accommodate the new lights.

2. No BMW insignia unfortunately. One of the first things I looked for. So it doesn’t pretend to be something it isn’t. Oh well. :/

3. They do mimic euro spec. I looked for na spec knockoffs out of curiosity and couldn’t find any. These are likely targeted with Chinese customers in mind. The instructions even reference them as being for G30 and G38.

4. I do recommend them especially given the price. I have some concerns about weatherproofing and leaks, but it’s more uncertainty that I sealed things well and my own (lack of) skill. The lights and gutters themselves seem to be at a similar level of quality as oem.

The plus is that this is a kit made to work with non-LCI cars, rather than LCI lights that need additional work to retrofit. However if it weren’t for the coding and rewiring I’d probably lean oem. It’d sit better with me no doubt, and I do feel weird about using knockoffs. If youve gotten the oem retrofit done and working you’re golden imho. Nevertheless, in this day and age, the third party stuff tends to be uncannily high quality. I wish I took pics before installing.

Here are some close ups, car is still filthy.

Awesome information and the pics are the cherry on top. I will be ordering these soon and asking the seller about rain guards. Could just go over what you had to do for the inners as far as some adapter?

Here are the instructions that came with it. (I relied mostly on euro*’s amazing guide in the f90 forum.)

The part where it says to connect the outer lights into that yellow wire can be ignored, in fact has to be ignored for it to work. The outer tails plug directly into the original wires, the inner tails plug into the adapter as pictured.

Wow, these look really good. Thanks for posting. I spent about 15-20 minutes studying your pics and some of mine and comparing. They look great! The form factor seems spot on. The amount of gloss or sheen of the material looks slightly duller in your pics than mine, but I am sure that's just the pics. I am sure you will be studying an LCI every time you walk up! Keep us updated.

High praise, thank you! I think the sheen is mostly the lighting & dust.

No kidding, I’m already on the hunt for a comparo. I was hoping for an opportune photo op at the grocery store yesterday, but the closest things to an LCI g30 were a (multiple) G20 and an x6 m50.

Before I pulled the trigger on mine, I went to the dealer on a Sunday just to get close up without being creepy on a car in a parking lot.

Tails look pretty official! No one would know nor would they inspect it, especially while your driving.

Good savings on the tails! Keep us posted if you run into any issues (hopefully you dont)

It would be great if they got the US spec also available.

Thanks for all the info. I asked the eBay seller if the plastic drip rails were included and I got back a "no dear" lol. I'm not sure if this person knows what I'm even talking about. I tried to explain what it is I was looking for. Let's see what they say. Seller is wztd-auto. I got them down to $650. If they confirm the rails are included, I'm ordering them. Hoping to hear back soon.

Yah they probably don’t. Maybe try asking them for a pic of the full package?

If it's the same seller as Gautam , I think it's safe to assume they didn't include the gutters and guards by accident. But I guess there is a chance they could leave them out because of your bartering, but I doubt it.

2. No BMW insignia unfortunately. One of the first things I looked for. So it doesn't pretend to be something it isn't. Oh well.

3. They do mimic euro spec. I looked for na spec knockoffs out of curiosity and couldn't find any. These are likely targeted with Chinese customers in mind. The instructions even reference them as being for G30 and G38.

4. I do recommend them especially given the price. I have some concerns about weatherproofing and leaks, but it's more uncertainty that I sealed things well and my own (lack of) skill. The lights and gutters themselves seem to be at a similar level of quality as oem.

The plus is that this is a kit made to work with non-LCI cars, rather than LCI lights that need additional work to retrofit. However if it weren't for the coding and rewiring I'd probably lean oem. It'd sit better with me no doubt, and I do feel weird about using knockoffs. If youve gotten the oem retrofit done and working you're golden imho. Nevertheless, in this day and age, the third party stuff tends to be uncannily high quality. I wish I took pics before installing.

Here are some close ups, car is still filthy.

Yah I asked the same seller and he also said no but doubt he understands what I'm getting at. I also got the same offer.

Haha nice. I was trying to see how low they would go, just for the hell of it. I'm going to try asking them for a pic of the complete package. I believe their counteroffer expires tomorrow, so what should we do if they don't respond back in time? Are you going to chance it?

I may not sure yet. Can buy drip rails easily and I'm sure they aren't expensive.

I found the part numbers: (63-21-8-493-821) and (63-21-8-493-822). Looks to be around 30-40 bucks each from a quick Google search. I haven't looked at eBay yet.
