Theoretically, couldn't you pull plugs and check for excessive fouling if so?

1. 7100mi got low coolant warning. Could not find a leak. Three more times to dealer to find a leak as reservoir was still needing service. Still found no leaks. So I bought some coolant and distilled water and checked the reservoir level myself every month. In 71,000mi I have put 3 1/2 quarts of fluid in. Not to mention the coolant servicing that was done when I had various 5,000 mi oil and filter changes.
2. 22012 mi lower radiator flaps stuck needed to be replaced
3. 20432 mi Upper radiator flaps stuck needed to be replaced By the way there is a 150,000mi 10 year warrantee on the flaps now,
4. 22850 mi Tach and speedometer display shifted to the left and the module had to be replaced and reprogrammed. Lucky I had heads up display.
5. 64027 mi front brake pads and rotors replaced
6. 66415 mi Engine Mounts needed to be replaced
7. 69850 mi Coolant Reservoir leaking and replaced.
8. 71383mi In the shop now for Oil filter mount (Plastic) cracked coolant leaking again and since both Coolant and oil are together they need to purge the coolant and change the oil and filter. So they are gonna have the car for a week. I had my first oil change at the dealer at 4977mi and the first low coolant warning was 7,049mi. at I wonder if they cracked the housing then and I have just been keeping it full.
Looking at some other car this is going to get expensive and it is all because of the PLASTIC under your hood. Good luck fellas.....

By the way drove a 2023 M340i today might be time for a change. Wow what a ride. Of course the da?m plastic would still be there and waiting. I think I am gonna just save money and trade before the warrantee goes out from now on. Don't know why BMW builds a perfect engine but puts sh*tty plastic parts on the coolant system and oil system.
Every time someone posts asking if they should get an extended warranty they get a ton of posts saying there are no issues before 100k miles and the warranties are just profit veins for the sellers.

This is a great thread now that warranties are expiring and we can start to get a much truer picture with detailed accounts like yours.

Sorry you’ve had so many issues.

The M340i seems awesome. I just couldn't get past the uncomfortable seats for a daily driver.

I drove a 2021 M340 with 7k miles on it and man that thing drove worse than my 328 E90 .

The ride was way rougher than my E90. My E90 had sports package. os, it was a bit lower to the group than a non-sport package E9x.

2019 540i xDrive with ~42,000 miles. Zero issues that have needed repair. Been a wonderful car. One set of tires at 36,000 miles.

I do have an ever-so-slight vibration at 82 mph. Not sure if it is a repaired tire from a flat or the issue being discussed in another thread.

Also, I have observed twice an issue where the headlights will cycle between on and off in rapid succession (i.e. looks like something is triggering the auto headlights to come on, then turn off.) Moving the headlight control from "auto" to "off" and then back to "auto" has resolved the issue both times. I suspect this will become a warranty issue if I can make the problem repeatable. Right now there is no way the dealer will be able to duplicate the problem.

I've had my share of blown head gaskets. In all of my cases, the plug was always very clean looking. Probably because of a lean condition that led to detonation in the first place.

You can check the underside of the oil cap to look for a milky sludge, we can't check the dipstick.

I don't know if there are any coolant lines going to the trans. It's a closed system so you have to look every possible failure point.

In fairness, I don't think most warranty naysayers claim there are no issues before $100k. I think it's more they think repairs won't exceed the warranty cost. But when the products are refundable and it gives me some peace of mind, I tend to think it's worth it.

Fair point.

Hopefully this thread helps us to get a much fuller picture of the post-warranty life for the G30. With all the electronics these repairs can easily have a runaway cost aspect to them. The electronics are only increasing the complexity and repair costs. For instance, with the LCI your car can be bricked during an OTA update requiring a dealer (or BMW Roadside) visit to sort out. I’d imagine pretty painful Out of Warranty (OW).

I’ll be here for the long haul though. I’m owning until 2026 at least for my G30. I purchased the BMW Extended Service Contract and Ultimate Care+4 so I’ll see how it stacks up over that timeframe!

Maybe I’ll comeback saying the house won or cheering my past self for wisely backstopping my costs. *dice roll*

I'm planning to be in for another 4-5 years for sure. My CPO starts in two months and then I'll be looking for additional coverage. The electronics are my biggest concern when picking a warranty. Everything from sunroof to the stereo to the dash board. I know "shit happens" but I feel confident this engine (B58) and transmission will be reliable if cared for. I change the oil every 5-6k because I want it to treat me well for the long haul. The electronics I have less confidence in…

This guy was "disappointed" with his B58. he bought it for youtube content. It's so reliable he isn't getting any!

It's fantastic. I love it, as well as the ZF transmission.

2017 540i xDrive, 35.000km on the clock (21,750 miles)
Installed MPPSK at around 2.000km
Flashed with BM3 Stage 1 at around 10.000km

No major issues so far.
Just annoying things like;

-MPPSK rattling exhaust tip
-Rattling noise inside above 160km/h since almost new, somewhere around passenger seat. Still could not figure out where exactly it comes from
-Side mirror tilting way too much when in reverse. Too much that i turned the feature off.
-Auto braking when parking activated two times with absolutely no obstacle around.
-idrive screen went black once. Restarted without issues and never came back.
-On a very hot day after pushing the car a lot for more than 4 hours, had an issue with the transmission. Did not drop gears neither in manual nor in auto mode. Went back to normal after restart and never came back.

Hoping the list does not get any longer

If it's that important to you I believe you can code how far down it tilts.

Rattling seat 2022M550i can tell you where his rattles.

Just annoying things like;

Yep…sure can. Put your hand on the headrest, and like magic, the rattling stops.

- Highway vibrations since i bought the car( just about to solve waiting final touch)
- Some knocking on low speed gear down or up. especially on traffic car is knocking me

No further issue.
I wonder if these mystery vibrations can possibly come from the driveshaft, guibo. If they can't find/fix the vibration for you, have them look at that assembly. If the driveshaft wasn't properly balanced it will cause a vibration. The faster you go, the more it vibrates. If mine did that, I would Detach the driveshaft from the rear and rotate it 180° and re-bolt it on.

1. 7100mi got low coolant warning.

Goddamn, engine mounts at 66k??
I have changed engine mounts on my F10 535 around 60k used to vibrate like anything smh
