That is a damn good price for that job.
Update here:

I think some will be disappointed to hear that I elected to go 540. No big V8 for me. I'm probably making the same mistake, again!

It's fully loaded though not an option missing and the b58 is a totally different animal to my bmws of the past with just 4cyl.

But, even at the dealer today, the X5 drew me over to have a sit in it and left me contemplating my decision once again... maybe next one or it's a build so still plenty of time to change my mind haha.

Thanks everyone for all the awesome advice and experience.
You're dead to us, but congrats
Haha I might have spoken too soon.

I don't want to wait for this build. Sounds ridiculous but going through the winter without remote start and leaving at 530am, sucks! I was spoiled with WFH before. Also, my x3 is not up until July. Dealer says i can walk now for free but come feb/March if used car market continues to soften i might be in trouble. Just another reason to act now.

Trying to see if I can get into something sooner which includes x5s. My only stupid issue with x5 is the lack of multi contour seats. I can get a 45e allocation to deliver by year end, but I'm not 100% what I'll owe the federal govt. switched jobs this year, don't have the prior w2 yet to try to calc. I'd be pissed if I got zeroed out on the credit. Last year I owed the fed a bunch but who knows. I'd much rather lease an x5 40i for 900/mo, then finance a 45e, but those seats again!!
I'll wait to write you off but, I'm going to need a v8 under the hood.

The fear that it will be perceived by another person dwelling in my house that I am waking the neighbors at 530am.

Yea I got one of those here too. Since I cut the resonators off I did wake her on cold start. Oh well, she got use to it after a couple times. Moot point but, no chance you wake up anyone with the stock exhaust.

Your neighbors won't hear it if you keep it stock. It's not that loud. Beg forgiveness, don't ask permission.

Agreed on it won't wake them. And also agree on it being a moot point , all that matters is what they think when they hear it that first time..

Yeah, they'll get used to it. Besides, people keep cutting parts out of the exhaust just to make things louder! I think if you keep it stock it'll be fine.

You have to drive it to get the feel of the car. You could be doing 160 kph downshift one gear and the next thing you see is 240. No, it is not low to the ground as the 550 and as nimble but if you need or want the extra space try the M50i and you be your own judge.

Vic
This might be a silly question but does anyone know if the cold starts on both cars are the same loudness?
Hi Matt
As I mentioned before I have never driven the 550. As for the X5 40i and the M50i there is a big difference in cold start sound.

You guys find the M550i's cold start too quiet? It's pretty damn loud lol. I love it and love it's rumble, but it's def loud. I remember my dad hearing it for the first time like whoaaa!! I was actually a little surprised myself coming from a F10 550i, when I first got it.

Haha finally someone agrees!!

Whether you love the sound or not, the m550 starting at 530am on a completely quiet residential street is a lot different than my x3 30i . It will be heard multiple houses away.

I think everyone who gets an m550 for the most part wants the sound and wants it even louder. So the opinion of it being quiet is all relative to buyer expectations and certainly not relative to a regular 4cyl or even 6 cylinder sedan.

People definitely code it out. The first thing a local Indy shop said when I asked about adding axle back exhaust was that he would code out the cold start.

I feel like it has a purpose and would rather leave it. But if I have it long enough to eventually do the exhaust, then I might code it out if it was still my daily driver.

Yea biggest issue with coding it out is the warranty violation. I was all over coding it out until I read about that .

Yeah. That's definitely going to kill the warranty. That's why I haven't done any performance modification. I've still got the CPO warranty for another year.

@Mattl0806 I still vote you should wait on the car YOU built for YOU. But I don't get a vote haha. I'm just envious because I'm not in a position to do a custom build right now.

Haha I do take your vote into consideration!
I was hoping you had a way to code out the cold start and not violate warranty!

The problem with my build is if I were to do it now, I'd pick a different color. So i don't love it any more. I love that it's cheaper tho haha. I feel a bit irrational paying up 60/mo to get the car 8 weeks early. But then again, that extra payment clears me of the used car market risk.

According to the CA I have until tomorrow EOM to pull trigger on Arctic race blue.

Hitting me where it hurts! .

At least after this lease I'll never have to deal with this problem. It will all be PHEV or full electric.

So walking into my dct I hear a car in the parking lot, I'm walking right by it, its loud enough to catch my attention but really just a low grumble. it's m850- just cold start. Didn't sound very loud at all. I could notice it but it wasn't overwhelming. Driver put it in gear before it calmed down and the car got quieter itself.

Hmmmm - I guess that was fate for me to hear ?

Additionally, the 850 is even louder than the 550 because it comes with 2 less resonators.
