Passenger side mirror doesn't tilt when in reverse

It was working when I brought the car home and drove to work the next day. Just noticed today when I pulled out of the garage the passenger side mirror did not tilt.

Yes, the mirror switch was set to the driver's side. I didn't get the chance to see if the passenger side mirror itself works. I'll have to take a look at that once I pick the car up from detail

If it's under warranty, I'd make a note and tell the dealer about it when you get it serviced or call and make an appointment for it. My auto tilting steering wheel gets stuck sometimes and I plan to tell them about it when I get the oil changed in a month or two.

I actually hate that tilt feature. Mine tilts way too much. I don't need it and wish I could turn it off. I looked through the menus and didn't see any way to adjust that. is there a way to turn that crap off?

I think you can adjust this with BimmerCode. I can verify if you would like

Wait, do all G30s come with auto tilting? Mine doesn't do that

Set the mirror switch to passenger side and it will not auto tilt.

That's what i did because mine tilts much more than it should too. Definitely useless with that angle

This is correct. The mirror only tilts when the slide button to adjust from Drivers to Passengers side is set to the Drivers side. Kind of smart really in that the switch doubles as an on/off.

And yes, the tilt angle is far to much.

Tilt angle is adjustable in the "expert mode" section of Bimmercode.

Glad to see people commenting on the tilt angle. Agree it's worthless as it tilts too far down. So dumb that Bimmercode is the only fix.

I use the tilt only to see if the back wheel is at the correct distance from the curb when parallel parking and it works fine for that.

It is a very useful feature when parking parallel to the sidewalk, other than that it has no use, but if you are parking like that often you learn to appreciate this feature.

That is what it is for. In Arizona, I parallel park around once a year so the feature is basically turned off for me.

Mirror tilt feature has had the same activate/deactivate procedure for multiple decades. Every BMW I've owned since 1986 has had the same procedure for deactivation:

If there was an option to adjust the angle of tilt, i would use it….but its an all or nothing proposition. The 360 cam works better for me.

As mentioned in some of the posts above...a different tilt "angle" can be selected using coding software. According to the Bimmercode website...the tilt angle coding is actually on the "easy side" (no need to go into EXPERT mode). (see screen shot below)

And if you live/drive in an area where there's very little parallel parking...this feature is easy to deactivate by just moving the switch on the door panel. Which allows you to reactivate it if needed..like if you do find yourself needing to see the curb on the passenger side if in a tight parking or backing out situation. Most of the time I have this feature deactivated...but in winter I do turn it on if I'm parked on the right side of the garage because I also keep the snow blower on that side...and don't want to hit it when backing out.

G30 coding parameters for mirror tilt from Bimmercode website can be seen below...not sure why one would totally deactivate it when that can be done using the switch on the door...and also allows you to quickly reactivate it if needed in a pinch. You can also adjust the "tilt angle".

Yeah, I'm not really looking to stare at my tire while I scrape the side of the garage door frame.

This is an area where my Mercedes was better. It would allow you to adjust the tilt to what you liked and allow you to save it to memory similar to how we can save our mirror angles otherwise.

Combo of 360 cameras and tilt as is you will never scratch your rim. Won't have to worry about any extra adjustments.

My Jag had that option as well.
