Jumping in late here, and I know you've been going back and forth on a few cars so I'm not try to derail your decision, but I have to wonder why you're not considering a G20.

The 3 series has grown in size a lot over the years. It has almost the same backseat space as an E60 5 series, which people thought had plenty of room for car seats at the time.

The price difference between a 530 and 330, both of course with the B48, is pretty substantial. Of course I'd push to get an M340.

If you want a more "luxurious" car you get with the 5 then I get it, but if it's due to space for children that you don't currently have then that seems like a huge compromise.

I decided to go with the 5. I cant fit anyone in the back of a 3 series. My younger brother is 6 feet and can hardly fit in the 330 or 340

I'm hoping I get a 3 series loaner this summer when I go for service. Id like to feel for myself the luxury and driving difference. You can load out a brand new 340 for still 7-10 grand cheaper than a decently to excellently equipped 540.

I'm ecstatic with my 540. I just like to know what's out there for future decisions.

The trunk space is only a little smaller, too. If you really road trip your car, you can have a loaded 340 and a rack/roof box and still be out the door less than a 540.

Plus you get more HP/TQ with the M340 and better fuel economy too. It all depends on what's more important to the individual whether the 3 or 5 is the way to go, in the BMW brand.

Will do. I went to go look at this yesterday

Wasnt in BAD shape but wasn't up to CPO expectations IMO.

2 of the 4 rims were curbed, A-pillar on the inside where worn-out somehow, needed a buff (obviously it's black) and that's really about it.

We were at $45,288(1k rebate. They went down $600) I told them $43,500, fix the 2 curbed wheels, replace that A-pillar trim, buff the car, and give me a stick of touch-up paint so I can touch the small rock chips on the front bumper.

He said no. I left. I'll call them before the month ends and see what happens.

KBB fair purchase price is $41k.

How does the A pillar trim get worn out? Never seen that one before. Strange.

I'd like to feel for myself how much luxury feel is given up to get the benefits you listed. Also would like to see what the handling difference feels like. I don't care about the back seat too much. It's for the kids 99% of the time. It's a great plus but it's secondary to me. I think I'm probably a 5 series guy if it's one or the other. But I could see buying a 2 or 3 series as a more fun ride, if the g30 were paid off and still running great.

Maybe the dealership will call you sometime before the end of the month. If they do, then you'll know they want to sell you the car. Good luck.

They also have a Bluestone on Cognac 19 540. That's at 50k though.

I'll call them March 29th. Offer $43,500+++ and say I'll pick it up the next day.

If he declines, I'll look for something else

A pillar worn out? Perhaps it was used for dogging?

Wheels not repaired is also poor , if that hasn't been sorted which is a small cost item it just generally indicates that no effort has been put into selling the car, I would walk away from , no hesitation

I mentioned that to the salesmanger. He told me to go look for a different car.

I'll give them a second shot before the month ends. If my offer isn't excepted, that's fine

Brother, I'd find a new dealer to work with. It's a seller's market no doubt about it. But that didn't stop the dealer in Huntsville from giving me exceptional service. They were honest about their bottom line price and didn't budge. But the service was top of the line, they put a lot of effort in the deal, and they were willing to work out small details. Oh, and he drove it to me the day before Christmas Eve (about 3 hours and I paid him a couple hundred bucks).

You're spending a lot of money. This isn't a used Malibu. I don't care what the market is. Market sets the price, not the attitude. My advice is go back to the drawing board and start fresh with another dealer within a couple hours of you. But that's just my two cents!

That price seems awfully high. I paid around $46500 for a pretty loaded 2019 540i with 296xx miles at the end of January. Maybe search a wider area?

Mountain View BMW provided me one of the worst experiences back when I was shopping for my 5, took my business elsewhere.

So, I found a 540 AWD with everything I am looking for. Agreed on an otd price of $47k. The selling price would be $43K~. Which is close to trade-in value.

They have had the car for 5 months which is a very long time IMO. Carfax shows it was in a minor/moderate accident before it was sold. No airbags deployed and what have you. Autocheck shows no accidents. Which I find weird.

I also find it weird that it was brought by the same group (Zeigler) but there BMW dealership per carfax 10/26/2021 and listed as a CPO.

Now it's for sale at the same dealer group but Infiniti So, is it not a CPO anymore?

A CPO is still a CPO I'm pretty sure. They may have moved it from one dealership to the other because it wasn't moving on the bmw lot. Of course, you can verify with them.

I've heard different opinions on cars with minor accidents on the carfax. Some say you get a great deal, some are the opposite. You just have to do your homework and make a decision. Once you decide, go with it and don't back.

I almost bought a 2016 535 before I got my CPO 540. It would've been almost zero note payment and my thought was I'd enjoy it for a couple years and if I liked it, buy a new/newer BMW. It only had 50k miles on it and was clean. Had fun on a 24 hour test drive. I kept asking questions and kept asking. And they were great and answered everything. Finally I talked to the tech that inspected it when it came it. Guess what… it had to have the engine replaced after it was traded. Had thrown a rod and they found out after the trade. Part of me thought "hey! No car note, fun car, and brand new engine!" But the more conservative part won out. I just couldn't take a flyer on a car that had the engine replaced at 50k miles. What else had been ragged out on it? No telling. No regrets passing on it, I think I got the right car for me in the end. More expensive but newer with CPO coverage and plenty of miles to go.

My point in that story is don't be afraid to ask every question under the sun when something seems off, like sitting 5 months in this market and moving lots. You may uncover a hell of a deal or you may uncover information that makes you walk. Either way, I'd say ask questions and be patient and don't get invested in the car until you're satisfied.

Good luck!

Looks nice. I would try and find out what they mean by a minor/moderate accident. I kissed a small retaining wall that required a bumper cover replacement. Carfox called that a minor/moderate accident. The real question is how the car got from Portland (where it spent most of its life) to Illinois. Maybe the owner moved.

The CPO is good for 5 years from in-service date, so you'll want to find that date.
