Drive Recorder Question

Hello all,

With the Parking Assistance Package, is the drive recorder always on when parked and the engine turned off? For example, if I go to a restaurant and eat food, and someone hits my car, will the drive recorder capture that even though the car is fully off?

I wish the BMW drive recorder would work this way- as additional security against parking lot presents. Sadly, only some aftermarket drive recorders function like that, and they usually require semi-complicated wiring to a back-up battery pack.
