The title says it all. I am planning on a BEV for my next purchase but if BMW offered me the 545e, I might stay with a hybrid and BMW.

I think it's almost a certainty that the g60 version will have hybrids all down the lineup. If the M5 is going to have a hybrid, I'm sure the 6 cylinders will also. So, give it a year.

I think BMW will bring a much fuller lineup in 2024+ with the G60.

The increased fuel economy targets from the EPA will kick in at that time and make it much more viable.

We will see how that actually works out. I think the BMW caliber car makers will have figured it out, since their PHEV technology is already really good. But I doubt it's ready for mass market by then. I don't even know if there is enough battery supply for every GM, Ford, etc sold in 2026 to have that. That kind of policy is usually ready, fire, aim.

Agree with all of the above. Plus, improvements in battery technology could see a PHEV with 30-50 mi range. That would cover 100% of my local driving in EV mode. Best of all Worlds--a super ICE for trips and an EV for local use that didn't weigh any more than a 300 mi range full EV.

Steve is specifically asking about a PHEV that BMW doesn’t offer in the US due to weaker fuel economy standards. Increased fuel economy standards here will alter the value proposition for BMW.

Yes I know and I also said I think the PHEV will be all over the spectrum of 5ers by 2024. I just don't think it will because of something this admin is saying today.
