If the Bronco lasts anywhere near as long it'll be a massive win in terms of durability.

All this being said even I feel the pull of the Bronco! I have noticed myself actually trying to justify how I can fit it into my life. lol I blame phenomenon on great design. It's clear to everyone that Ford got it right.

Hopefully it drives better on the highway than a Jeep Wrangler. The Jeep feels like driving farm equipment on the highway.

Ford Downplays The Possibility Of A V8-Powered Bronco

Quote:
Jeep is working on a V8-powered Wrangler, but it doesn’t appear that Ford has similar plans for the Bronco.

While rumors about a V8 Bronco have surfaced from time to time, company officials downplayed the possibly in a recent interview.

Speaking to Muscle Cars and Trucks, Bronco chief engineer Eric Loefller suggested emissions were partly behind the move as he said “We have to manage the CO2 implications of the product. The way the federal requirements are now, it’s all shadow area based.” He went on to say the footprint of the Bronco would give the model a “pretty high target, from a government perspective, in terms of CO2 [emissions].”

Besides the emissions issue, Ford seems to believe the optional 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 – which produces 310 hp (231 kW / 314 PS) and 400 lb-ft (542 Nm) of torque – has plenty of power. As Loefller explained, customers are more concerned about horsepower, torque and fuel economy than how many cylinders are under the hood.

These sentiments were echoed by global program manager Jeff Seaman who said “If the customer experience was significantly enhanced with a Coyote engine, it would have been under serious consideration.” That seems to suggest Ford didn’t really entertain the idea of a V8-powered Bronco, and Seaman added the EcoBoost engine is “damn good” and won’t leave customers wanting for a bigger engine.

Of course, at the end of the day, the 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6 is significantly less powerful than the company’s 5.0-liter V8 which develops 460 hp (343 kW / 466 PS) and 420 lb-ft (569 Nm) of torque in the Mustang GT. However, a Bronco Raptor seems inevitable and the latest rumors suggest it could use a 3.0-liter EcoBoost V6 engine.

In the Explorer ST, the engine develops 400 hp (298 kW /406 PS) and 415 lb-ft (562 Nm) of torque. While it’s no V8, that’s 90 hp (67 kW / 91 PS) and 15 lb-ft (20 Nm) more than the Bronco with the 2.7-liter EcoBoost V6.

ANSWERING THE CALL OF ENTHUSIASTS, BRONCO BRAND EXPANDS SASQUATCH PACKAGE TO MODELS WITH 7-SPEED MANUAL TRANSMISSION

Quote:
DEARBORN, Mich., Sept. 21, 2020 – Listening to reservation-holder feedback, Ford is expanding the availability of its high-performance off-road Sasquatch™ package to all-new Bronco two- and four-door models with a class-first 7-speed manual transmission.

“The Bronco community spoke and we heard them,” said Mark Grueber, Ford Bronco consumer marketing manager. “Our team moved quickly to add Sasquatch with a manual transmission – another example of our focus on giving customers the best possible off-road vehicles and accessories that we can.”

The increased availability of the Sasquatch package also makes the Ford Bronco the only 4x4 with a 7-speed manual and 35-inch off-road tires in its class.

Sasquatch plus manual unlocks even more off-road capability
While other brands save their best hardware for premium series models, Bronco is making off-road capability a priority across every two- and four-door trim level with the available Sasquatch package.

Checking the Sasquatch box adds class-first 35-inch Goodyear® mud-terrain tires mounted to 17-inch beadlock-capable wheels, Dana™ front and rear electronic locking axles with 4.7:1 final drive ratio, and high-clearance suspension with a nearly two-inch wider track, position-sensitive Bilstein shocks and wider fender flares.

Sasquatch package will be available across the lineup, including Base, Big Bend™, Black Diamond™ Outer Banks™, and Badlands™. It is standard on Bronco Wildtrak™ and First Edition models, while the Badlands™ series with available Sasquatch package and standard semi-active hydraulic front stabilizer bar disconnect results in the ultimate Bronco rock crawler.

“Capability is always a priority, and pairing Sasquatch with a manual transmission and available advanced 4x4 system gives it a maximum crawl ratio of 94.75:1, providing even more off-road capability across the line-up,” said Dave Pericak, Ford icons global director.

The manual transmission with Sasquatch package is targeted to be available in late 2021.

Bronco Build and price goes live in October
As excitement builds around the Bronco brand of rugged SUVs, the Bronco two- and four-door build and price site will go live in October. Enthusiasts will be able to virtually create their ideal models and compare pricing for option groups. Reservation holders can create their dream off-road machine and print and save the information for ordering, which will begin in December.

Nice! Yeah I was a bit annoyed that if you wanted the manual you had to drop to the tiniest engine package and lower trim levels. Sure, with the way the crawl gear works it's more than enough for that, but...you still have to drive TO the off-road areas in normal modes, and having more power on freeways and crap can make a huge difference where I'm at. Some on-ramps only have about 100 yards or less to merge into traffic doing 80 mph. I don't expect to be winning any drag races with the 2.7 vs the 2.3, but every little bit helps and I'd rather have 310/400 than 270/310.

Ford Kicks Off Bronco Pre-Production, Shows Exclusive Lightning Blue Color For First

Quote:
The 2021 Ford Bronco is inching closer to dealerships as pre-production models have rolled off the assembly line at the Michigan Assembly Plant, which is the historic home of the Bronco.

Posted by Bronco Nation, the pictures show a two- and four-door Bronco going from a shell to a finished vehicle.

The site says the four-door variant is a Bronco Badlands with an Oxford White exterior and a removable hardtop. It’s equipped with a ten-speed automatic transmission and a 2.3-liter EcoBoost four-cylinder engine that produces 270 hp (201 kW / 274 PS) and 310 lb-ft (420 Nm) of torque.

The two-door model is the entry-level Bronco and it looks pretty underwhelming. Putting that aside, it has an Iconic Silver exterior and a 2.3-liter engine paired to a seven-speed manual.

These models won’t be headed to eager customers as they’re pre-production units which will now be subjected to a barrage of testing. That’s important as Ford has received more than 165,000 reservations for the Bronco and Bronco Sport, and the company can’t afford to botch the launch like they did with the Explorer.

Of course, it will be months before the Bronco arrives at dealerships as the first deliveries aren’t scheduled until the spring of 2021. Many of them will be First Editions and Ford recently confirmed they will be offered with an exclusive Lightning Blue exterior. It looks pretty sharp and will hopefully appease fans who will shell out over $60,000 for the model which is limited to 7,000 units.

Done deal. 2-Door Black Diamond Edition. I'm in!

Not sure If I'll go with the 'Squatch package. I like the black steel wheels of the Black Diamond Edition.

I’m probably going to go with just the 33s, I’m more interested in overlanding type stuff than crawling. 4 door, and I want the “antimatter blue” color. So badlands, 2.7L, Auto, Lux Package.

It IS tempting to just shift to the Wildtrak + Lux though.

Confused about the roof options on the four-door-- I see the Molded-In-Color (MIC) listed, as well as sound insulation for same. I'm assuming that this roof is detachable.

But, what is the stock (i.e. non-MIC) roof? I think it's a canvas soft-top? But I'm not certain.

Any ideas?

I'm disappointed those doors with the little windows didn't make it into production. For some reason I feel it made the car look much better. I still like it though, would totally get this over a wrangler... but then I'm not a big wrangler fan.

The 2-door comes standard with removeable hard tops. The 4-door comes standard with soft tops. The 2-door can be optioned with soft tops and the 4-door can be optioned with hard tops.

Hard tops for both models can be optioned with sound insulation.

I thought I'd choose a loaded-out Wildtrak but I don't like brown interiors; so I'd choose an Outer Banks so at least the interior is gray and blue. After delivery I'd remove and sell off the running boards the Outer Banks has standard. I do like how the Wildtrak blacks-out the 'power dome' hood, but I could recreate that look myself after delivery.

Active Cruise Control and premium sound system makes the Lux Package a requirement.

There's no mention of the leather-power seats having preset memory, so I'd save the $2195 and stick with the cloth-manual seats. If it turns out there is preset memory I'd pony up for this option.

While I wouldn't need the Sasquatch Package, it really makes this vehicle. I'd choose it even though it isn't cheap. I wouldn't be choosing any bash plates or special bumpers.

Just like my last four cars were gray; I'd choose Carbonized Gray.

If..... IF my much-loved MT Element ever gives up the ghost, I'd have to go here:

Badlands Edition, 4-doors, MANUAL TRANSMISSION, Lux package, tow kit, hard-top w/ insulation. In Cyber Orange, of course.

From what I can figure out, the Badlands is the only way to get a MT with the Lux package.

At $55k, it would *hurt*, but it would also be a hoot to drive.

(Please God, don't let my Element blow up!)
