Hello,

I had a 2019 530i which had iDrive 6. I used to be able to change the coding within DIM_VARIANT to "Old", which changes the display option from "Brightness at Night" to just "Brightness". This coding was very helpful in preventing the screen from dimming in and out throughout the day and would stay at a consistent brightness.

I just got a 2022 530i which has iDrive 7 and this trick doesn't work anymore to change the setting to just "Brightness".

Is there any other coding I can do?

I dont notice my I Drive screen dimming, but do see the Live Cockpit screen dim and brighten if I drive under a bridge or shaded area. is that what you mean ?

Yes, that's correct. I notice it on both my iDrive screen and the Live Cockpit. I believe there is coding for the Live Cockpit that I used before that worked to keep it bright, but the iDrive screen is the one that bothers me the most.

You can try the tips for the Live Cockpit that were suggested in this thread:

I know how to setup/use Live Cockpit, but I havent found a way to stop the auto dimming. I dont think there is a way to disable it.

Have you used that Coding and the manual wheel to keep the Live Cockpit from dimming ? I would be interested in doing that if it works on our G30. Sometimes when it dims and is also bright outside it is hard to see the gauges and I dont like that.

You're welcome.

I haven't used that particular coding yet, but will try later today. I have the manual wheel turned up all the way, but it still does the dimming in the Live Cockpit during the day.

Great! Please post if it works on our G30. Would be nice to have the auto dim disabled.

I was out for a drive just the other day where I could BARELY see the speedo/tach due to auto dimming Live Cockpit. The HUD was still very bright, but it sure seems you should be able to keep Live Cockpit on full bright during the day, or anytime you want.

Seems that common sense is not a factor for them.
