Just purchased a bluestone 2019 540i and looking for a decent UK supplier of a replacement black grill and exhaust tips. Worried about buying cheap/buying twice so would really appreciate guidance.

Can anyone explain how the current chrome exhaust tips are attached? are they directly replaceable with an OEM black variant or do I need to have them separated by a garage?

For the tips, there’s an OEM Black Chrome trim that replaces the chrome. Not cheap, got mine in the last Black Friday sale. Part numbers 18 30 8 631 961 and 18 30 8 631 960.

Changing them is just knocking off the old ones with a block of wood, a rubber mallet and a long pry tool to free up the clips. The new ones clip back in securely.

Perfect. Thanks Jemster. Yeah, not cheap (£97ea!), but OEM better than chinese knock-offs all over ebay/amazon. Any thoughts on where I can get the front grill? Did BMW make a black version of the front kidney surround?

Dang - ordered a set from shop.bmw.co.uk and just received an email saying they've refunded me with no explanation. I guess they can't get them any longer. Guess I best find an OEM supplier. Do you remember who you used?

Speak to a dealer in parts department they will tell you if available and will sometimes give discount

I used shop.bmw.co.uk too. Maybe temporarily out of stock. The BF discount got me the pair for £135 or thereabouts so worth waiting for a sale if you can.

If you haven’t ordered anything yet, I just got my black kidney grills off of eBay for cheap. I was skeptical on the price but they work well! Hasn’t shown and wear and tear in the 8 months I’ve owned the car. It fits well too! No complaints

I'll put this out there ... I traded my '17 540 xDrive for a X5 45e MSport and removed the OEM Black Grills from my 540 before I traded it. They are perfect original BMW parts and I'll be glad to have a Bimmerposter in the USA buy them from me at a fair price.
